Friday(1/29)the President did something unusual in American politics - initiated an open dialogue with members of the opposite party. Visiting the House Republican retreat, he took questions on anything they wanted to talk about. He heard them out, acknowledged where they were right, and gave a genuine explanation where he felt they were wrong. It's worth noting that the President is looking to answer your questions as well. That's why immediately after the State of the Union, we partnered with YouTube to give you an opportunity to ask questions of the President. Go and ask whatever you want, or just vote on other questions that your fellow citizens have submitted, and the President will answer some of those questions in a unique live event on Monday at WhiteHouse.gov.

Ive been looking a Apples new tablet PC the iPAD. Its not going to be available until March and April depending on the system you want. Im looking at the 32 gb WiFi system for $599.00 that will be available in March. This will give me a couple of months to save up for it.
It is really, really cool. Go to www.apple.comand check out some of the videos that they have. Watch out for the Steve Jobs one tho cause it runs for an hour and a half. . . Im still having some problems with my Windows 7 system and this is a BRAND NEW SYSTEM. Now the problem is in the Sound card. If you look at the very last post in Saturdays edition youll see that there is now sound. I tried everything I know but nothing worked. I swear to GOD I hate Windows 7.* - - - - - *
I am playing with a new program called Naturally Speaking. It's a program that allows you to dictate via a microphone into your program like Word or Excel. As you dictate the program translates your voice into text. Of course wouldn't you know I had trouble installing and setting up the microphone. I was almost ready to give up but decided to use an old Microsoft microphone that I have had for many years. It is magic because it started to work after I swapped out the old one. During the setup you go through a training process to teach it how you speak. Once I got past the installation, the training process was quite simple. You read several paragraphs to train it to understand your voice then it goes through a process and when done it's ready to go. I haven't used it that much yet but from what I can see it looks like it'll help me kick out a letter in half the time. After I write my article I'll check the spelling and see how well it does which will be the real test. As you know if I type 1000 words a minute and they're all misspelled what good is it. * - - - - - *DOES THIS HURT YOU

Krugman: Im pretty close to giving up on Obama "Health care reform” which is crucial for millions of Americans ” hangs in the balance," NYT columnist Paul Krugman opined Thursday. "Progressives are desperately in need of leadership; more specifically, House Democrats need to be told to pass the Senate bill, which isn't what they wanted but is vastly better than nothing. And what we get from the great progressive hope, the man who was offering hope and change, is this:
I would advise that we try to move quickly to coalesce around those elements of the package that people agree on. We know that we need insurance reform, that the health insurance companies are taking advantage of people. We know that we have to have some form of cost containment because if we don't, then our budgets are going to blow up and we know that small businesses are going to need help so that they can provide health insurance to their families. Those are the core, some of the core elements of, to this bill. Now I think there's some things in there that people don't like and legitimately don't like.

Air America Radio shut off its microphones today and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It will continue to provide affiliates with "encore" programming through 9PM Monday, January 25, at which time its programming will end for good.
I suppose you could call Air America a failure, and from a business perspective it certainly was. It never operated in the black, and seemed to be in the midst of financial and management turmoil since before it launched in April of 2004.
But it helped catapult Al Franken into the U.S. Senate, and launched a then unknown Rachel Maddow on the path toward her own show on MSNBC, and will leave behind dozens of thriving progressive talk stations nationwide. And without the ecosystem that Air America spawned, Ed Schultz and other successful progressive talkers might never have had the opportunity to reach a national audience.
That's a pretty impressive legacy, and one for which I at least am grateful.

Well I got my PC back from A-1 Computer Repair yesterday. I had them delete WINDOWS 7 and re-install VISTA. I took my HP TOUCHSMART down to UPS for shipping, but first I had to get it into my car. The box they sent me wasnot big enough, plus it took me about 20 minutes to get it into my SUV. When I got to UPS two young girls there helped me get it into the store. Have you ever called one of those 800 numbers you see on TV almost every hour of the day. Well I did last week. They were selling these little levis type buttons that you can you can use with out sewing . You just push them in and add a snap on the other side. I thought this was a good idea all for ONLY $10 not the $32 you see on the screen plus THERE'S MORE you get a box that holds shoes and slips under the bed. Well I called that 800 number and got right through. That's when THE HEART BURN BEGAN. She took my order and asked if I'd like another set for a family member for just the shipping cost. I said no. Then just had another offer to which I said NO. Surprise, surprise she had still another offer and again I said NO. This went on for 15-20 minutes and I could get her to understand I ordered all that I wanted. Now please llet's wrap this up so I can move on. . . To which she offered me yet another offer at which point I'd had it and said some really bad words (but it did make me feel better) and then hung up. We didn't solve anything but he did give me an idea one what to look for. So I spent some time checking on my HOST (the company that maintains my Blog on the NET). I was able to figure out what settings I needed to fix and now my program works after just over 6 hours. I hope I can do better than that today. On another story that has some loose strings hang on. Remember the other day I talked about the cemetery plot I had and want to sell well I havent started that project but I have taken care of one issue I needed to in order to update my Will. And that is to purchase a Cremation Plan so my kids would not need to worry about it in the future. For the past couple of years Ive been getting this ad from the Neptune Company offering a cremation plan. (Do they know something I dont know?) Ive always dumped them in the trash. But the last time I got one I decided to get more info so I filled it out and sent it in. I also got one from another company called Smart Cremation so I sent it off as well. A couple weeks ago I had an appointment with a gal from Smart Cremation I liked their plan and signed up. As part of the plan they will spread the ashes over Puget Sound or in the forest. The total cost to me was $1198 which beatsthe hell out of a basic funeral which can start about $6000 and I already have the plot. Im not interested in a big ass get together.
