USE IT OR LOSE IT There is a bill in congress called HR6251 called "USE IT OR LOSE IT". It's a mandate for oil companies to either drill on federal land they have leased or give up the right to do so. The bill was directed at dormant leases of 68 million acres in the west and Alaska. The bill did not pass (Yes=223, No=195). To me this should have been a NO BRAINER but as you see by the above vote 195 congressmen RELLY DON'T HAVE A BRAIN. * - - - - - * Are the Hillary supporters that say they will vote for John McCain or not vote JUST NUTS? How can voting for someone that SUPPOSEDLY is the opposite of what you stand for be a good idea. The same with not voting. I'm for Obama but had Hillary won I would vote for her. It shows that some people will vote against there own self best interest. GO FIGURE. * - - - - - * Man was it HOT YESTERDAY or was it just me? * - - - - - *BILL MOYERS ON OIL AND IRAQ

* *YOU COULDN'T HAVE A BETTER PAIR
Just this week, a group of Republican senators re-introduced the Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution, which, as we know, would ban gay marriage.
And once again, the language is pretty straightforward:Section 1. This article may be cited as the `Marriage Protection Amendment'. Section 2. Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.'.This isn't especially surprising. Republicans are looking at the political landscape, and they're feeling awfully discouraged. The polls look bad, the base looks depressed, and fundraising looks iffy. Rallying the far-right troops with an anti-gay amendment to the Constitution - even though it has no chance at even getting so much as a hearing - might be helpful to the conservative movement. But the funny part is looking over the list of the 10 original sponsors. Most of the names are predictable - Brownback and Inhofe, for example - but there are two others whose names stand out: Sens. David Vitter (R-La.) and Larry Craig (R-Idaho). Yes, two of the principal sponsors of a constitutional amendment to "protect" marriage include one far-right Republican who hired prostitutes and another far-right Republican who was arrested for soliciting gay sex an airport men's room.

SLAVERY BY ANOTHER NAME
As I said yesterday this is a story I was unaware of. It is amazing that it was going on up until the second world war. That's why to me the 30 seconds of RANTS by the Rev Wright had some bases in truth unlike what the right wing does they just lie.
Many Americans are not familiar with Juneteenth - but now 29 states recognize the 19th of June as a state holiday. Juneteenth commemorates the 1865 day that General Gordon Granger of the Union Army sailed into Galveston, Texas and read General Order #3, announcing that "all slaves are free." It was a full two and a half years after slaves in rebel territories had been freed by The Emancipation Proclamation. Journalist Douglas Blackmon tells another tale of freedom postponed and denied in SLAVERY BY ANOTHER NAME. Blackmon's book tells the unfamiliar story of "neo-slavery" that reached beyond the de-facto slavery of tenant farming and debt peonage. Blackmon first became intrigued by this episode of U.S. history while researching a story for THE WALL STREET JOURNAL which documented how U.S. Steel Corp. relied on forced black laborers in Alabama coal mines. He discovered:Under laws enacted specifically to intimidate blacks, tens of thousands of African Americans were arbitrarily arrested, hit with outrageous fines, and charged for the costs of their own arrests. With no means to pay these ostensible "debts," prisoners were sold as forced laborers to coal mines, lumber camps, brickyards, railroads, quarries and farm plantations. Thousands of other African Americans were simply seized by southern landowners and compelled into years of involuntary servitude. It was a system that Blackmon found carried on in some areas until the early days of World War II. * *
TRACES OF THE TRADE: A STORY OF THE DEEP NORTH
BILL MOYERS JOURNAL presented a special preview of the documentary which opens the 21st season of P.O.V. TRACES OF THE TRADE: A STORY OF THE DEEP NORTH tells the story journey of discovery into the history and consequences of slavery. (see yesterdays post) In this bicentennial year of the U.S. abolition of the slave trade, one might think the tragedy of African slavery in the Americas has been exhaustively told. Katrina Browne thought the same, until she discovered that her slave-trading ancestors from Rhode Island were not an aberration. Rather, they were just the most prominent actors in the North's vast complicity in slavery, buried in myths of Northern innocence.
Browne - a direct descendant of Mark Anthony DeWolf, the first slaver in the family - took the unusual step of writing to 200 descendants. She invited them to journey with her from Rhode Island to Ghana to Cuba and back, retracing the Triangle Trade that made the DeWolfs the largest slave-trading family in U.S. history. Nine relatives signed up. TRACES OF THE TRADE: A STORY FROM THE DEEP NORTH is Browne's account of the journey. TRACES OF THE TRADE: A STORY FROM THE DEEP NORTH premieres on P.O.V. on June 24, 2008. Check local listings. Here in Bremerton it airs tonight at 10 pm on PBS channel 9.THIS IS FUNNY

Bush And McCain Try To Steal Credit For Webb's GI Bill That They Consistently Worked To Defeat
Yesterday, House leaders in both parties struck a deal on a war supplemental bill that includes expanded college benefits for veterans. The GI Bill is Sen. Jim Webb's (D-VA) version, as well as a provision allowing troops to transfer the benefits to family members. President Bush has promised to sign the legislation. Now, however, Bush and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) - the two most vocal opponents of Webb's bill - are trying to take credit for it. They are claiming that they always supported the generous benefits - their main concern was just ensuring the benefits' transferability:McCain: That has always been my primary concern with respect to the Webb bill. With the addition of the transferability provisions sought by Senators Graham, Burr, myself and others to give service members the right to transfer earned G.I. Bill benefits to spouses and children, we will have achieved in offering vastly improved educational benefit. Bush: Throughout the past five months, President Bush and members of his Administration have worked hard to ensure that an expansion of GI benefits includes transferability. The President is pleased that Congress answered his call.Webb said that he had been considering changing his bill to include a transferability option. But instead of working with him, McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) went ahead and introduced an opposing bill. While it did have transferability, it also had less generous educational benefits. This was never the real reason Bush and McCain opposed the legislation. Their constant complaint was that Webb's version was too generous and would lead to a drop in military retention:
McCain: "I want to make sure that we have incentives for people to remain in the military as well as for people to join the military." Bush administration: "The last thing we want to do is provide a benefit - or the last thing we want to do is create a situation in which we are losing our men and women who we have worked so hard to train."As the CBO concluded, these claims about retention were inaccurate. The Pentagon also argued that it was too generous to confer benefits on troops after "only" two years of service, and legislation offered by McCain and his Senate allies would have reserved the most generous benefits for those who have served at least 12 years, excluding most service members.

Detergent products, including major brands such as Electrasol and Cascade, will be removed from the shelves in some counties as the state begins implementing a ban making it illegal to sell or distribute dishwashing detergents containing more than 0.5 percent phosphorus. The ban is directed toward residential use and does not affect commercial or industrial use, state Department of Ecology spokeswoman Katie Skipper said. The ban will take effect statewide in 2010, but Whatcom and Spokane counties have been singled out to begin the ban this year.DOES IT SMELL LIKE ENRON ALL OVER AGAIN

I guess I'm just ahead of the curve. Yesterday I talked about my stimulus check and today I get a notice from the IRS that my check is in the mail (almost).
- - - - - Senator Dodd was right on with his Countrywide refinance. He said he got a 4.25% adjustable rate. It's funny because that's what I have on my house. It's called a 5 year adjustable rate. In my case my adjustment has about 9 or 10 months until I hit that 5 year mark. Dodd is said to have been given VIP treatment that you and I can't get. Well I'm here to tell you I got the same rate as Senator Dodd does that mean I'm special too? - - - - - So McCain and his crew say Barack is Naïve about the WAR ON TERROR. They say we haven't been attacked here in America since 9/11. So I'm thinking we have been fighting this War for over 5 years now and there is NO END in sight. So my question for McCain is "When are you going to stop digging." I say there just might be 4101 reasons for them not to attack us here. Let alone the 29,978 other reasons not to do so. - - - - - The Bush/McSame want to open more off shore drilling and in Alaska. HELL THEY HAVEN'T USED WHAT THEY HAVE RIGHT NOW.I JUST HAD TO WRITE
I saw this letter to the editor in yesterdays Kitsap Sun and just had to reply.
PRESIDENTIAL RACE: Barack Obama Is No John Kennedy There is a considerable amount of comparison between Barack Obama and John Kennedy. In 1960, when he was elected president of the United States at age 43, John Kennedy became the youngest person to hold that office. He was the only Roman Catholic to ever become president. Age and intellect invite a comparison between Kennedy and Obama. Unfortunately, the similarities almost stop there. Kennedy served with some heroism as a naval officer in the Pacific theater during World War ll. His patriotism has never been questioned, even by detractors. Obama has avoided military service. Kennedy lowered the general rate of income taxes his first year in office. Obama has stated his plan to raise taxes. Kennedy negotiated rather unsuccessfully with Nikita Khrushchev, then the premier of the Soviet Union. Later, during the Cuban missile crisis, Kennedy forced Khrushchev to back down and remove the nuclear warhead ballistic missiles which were being installed on that island. If John Kennedy were to run for president today, he would have to run as an independent or as a Republican. He no longer fits into the "Moveon.org" Democratic Party mold. Of course, neither do Harry Truman, Zel Miller or Franklin Delano Roosevelt. John G. , QUILCENEThis is in reply to John G.'s letter on 6/17 comparing Obama to John Kennedy. In his simple mind John equates patriotism to military service. Based on his logic he must really be unhappy with VP Cheney and most of the republican leadership. Don't take my word just Google "did not serve" and read for yourself. Then John uses the same old tired republican talking points that "Obama plans to raise taxes." What nonsense. Have you checked the Nation Debt lately that the Bush administration has left for your kids and grand kids. He says "Kennedy negotiated with Khrushchev unsuccessfully" (your words John). Just how many BOMBS did Kennedy have to drop, how many lives were lost to force Khrushchev to back down. . . you don't explain that. Sounds to me like talking to the Russians kind of worked wouldn't you agree. His last paragraph is just laughable. By the way John did you serve? You didn't say. And Oh, are you wearing that flag pin?
THIS IS TRUE, I'M NOT MAKING IT UP.

I try to contribute a little each month to causes and candidates that I support. I support Barack Obama 110%. I went to breakfast the other day with a friend and I asked him who he was voting for. He said he didn't know. I said how about Barack Obama and he said he's not sure about him. So I said why. He said he did understand why "he stayed in that church for 20 years." How do I answer "he stayed in his church for 20 years." Well I've talked about this before here in past posts. I've talked about the 7 years of military service of the Rev. Wright. How he was the medic for President Johnson. How he took the small church some 30-40 years ago and grew it into the mega-church it is now. I think I am able to give the Reverend Wright some slack because I believe you need to think about what it is he is saying. You need to know and understand where he came from. You need to remember how he grew up. How it feels to be told you need to enter through the back door. How it feels to be afraid that you or a family member or friend could be lynched just for looking at a white women. Yes Rev. Wright used words that taken out of CONTEXT are harsh. But you need to think of his life experience. His style of preaching and the audience he was talking to. Regardless of the words he used it is so unfair to use 10 second sound bites and say that's the measure of a man's life work. The last thing I can say is even if Barack was at ever one of these sermons (which he wasn't) he like you and I can decide for our self what they want to believe.JON STEWART TALKS TO FEAR

Honda's new zero-emission, hydrogen fuel cell car rolled off a Japanese production line Monday and is headed to southern California, where Hollywood is already abuzz over the latest splash in green motoring.
The FCX Clarity, which runs on hydrogen and electricity, emits only water and none of the gases believed to induce global warming. It is also two times more energy efficient than a gas-electric hybrid and three times that of a standard gasoline-powered car, the company says. Honda expects to lease out a "few dozen" units this year and about 200 units within a year. In California, a three-year lease will run $600 a month, which includes maintenance and collision coverage. I'm taking the day off but will be back tomorrow.
BARACKS FATHER'S DAY SPEECH
Good morning. It's good to be home on this Father's Day with my girls, and it's an honor to spend some time with all of you today in the house of our Lord.
At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus closes by saying, "Whoever hears these words of mine, and does them, shall be likened to a wise man who built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock." [Matthew 7: 24-25] Here at Apostolic, you are blessed to worship in a house that has been founded on the rock of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. But it is also built on another rock, another foundation - and that rock is Bishop Arthur Brazier. In forty-eight years, he has built this congregation from just a few hundred to more than 20,000 strong - a congregation that, because of his leadership, has braved the fierce winds and heavy rains of violence and poverty; joblessness and hopelessness. Because of his work and his ministry, there are more graduates and fewer gang members in the neighborhoods surrounding this church. There are more homes and fewer homeless. There is more community and less chaos because Bishop Brazier continued the march for justice that he began by Dr. King's side all those years ago. He is the reason this house has stood tall for half a century. And on this Father's Day, it must make him proud to know that the man now charged with keeping its foundation strong is his son and your new pastor, Reverend Byron Brazier. Of all the rocks upon which we build our lives, we are reminded today that family is the most important. And we are called to recognize and honor how critical every father is to that foundation. They are teachers and coaches. They are mentors and role models. They are examples of success and the men who constantly push us toward it. But if we are honest with ourselves, we'll admit that what too many fathers also are is missing - missing from too many lives and too many homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it. You and I know how true this is in the African-American community. We know that more than half of all black children live in single-parent households, a number that has doubled - doubled - since we were children. We know the statistics - that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and twenty times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home, or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it. How many times in the last year has this city lost a child at the hands of another child? How many times have our hearts stopped in the middle of the night with the sound of a gunshot or a siren? How many teenagers have we seen hanging around on street corners when they should be sitting in a classroom? How many are sitting in prison when they should be working, or at least looking for a job? How many in this generation are we willing to lose to poverty or violence or addiction? How many? Yes, we need more cops on the street. Yes, we need fewer guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them. Yes, we need more money for our schools, and more outstanding teachers in the classroom, and more afterschool programs for our children. Yes, we need more jobs and more job training and more opportunity in our communities. But we also need families to raise our children. We need fathers to realize that responsibility does not end at conception. We need them to realize that what makes you a man is not the ability to have a child - it's the courage to raise one. We need to help all the mothers out there who are raising these kids by themselves; the mothers who drop them off at school, go to work, pick up them up in the afternoon, work another shift, get dinner, make lunches, pay the bills, fix the house, and all the other things it takes both parents to do. So many of these women are doing a heroic job, but they need support. They need another parent. Their children need another parent. That's what keeps their foundation strong. It's what keeps the foundation of our country strong. I know what it means to have an absent father, although my circumstances weren't as tough as they are for many young people today. Even though my father left us when I was two years old, and I only knew him from the letters he wrote and the stories that my family told, I was luckier than most. I grew up in Hawaii, and had two wonderful grandparents from Kansas who poured everything they had into helping my mother raise my sister and me - who worked with her to teach us about love and respect and the obligations we have to one another. I screwed up more often than I should've, but I got plenty of second chances. And even though we didn't have a lot of money, scholarships gave me the opportunity to go to some of the best schools in the country. A lot of kids don't get these chances today. There is no margin for error in their lives. So my own story is different in that way. Still, I know the toll that being a single parent took on my mother - how she struggled at times to the pay bills; to give us the things that other kids had; to play all the roles that both parents are supposed to play. And I know the toll it took on me. So I resolved many years ago that it was my obligation to break the cycle - that if I could be anything in life, I would be a good father to my girls; that if I could give them anything, I would give them that rock - that foundation - on which to build their lives. And that would be the greatest gift I could offer. I say this knowing that I have been an imperfect father - knowing that I have made mistakes and will continue to make more; wishing that I could be home for my girls and my wife more than I am right now. I say this knowing all of these things because even as we are imperfect, even as we face difficult circumstances, there are still certain lessons we must strive to live and learn as fathers - whether we are black or white; rich or poor; from the South Side or the wealthiest suburb. The first is setting an example of excellence for our children - because if we want to set high expectations for them, we've got to set high expectations for ourselves. It's great if you have a job; it's even better if you have a college degree. It's a wonderful thing if you are married and living in a home with your children, but don't just sit in the house and watch "SportsCenter" all weekend long. That's why so many children are growing up in front of the television. As fathers and parents, we've got to spend more time with them, and help them with their homework, and replace the video game or the remote control with a book once in awhile. That's how we build that foundation. We know that education is everything to our children's future. We know that they will no longer just compete for good jobs with children from Indiana, but children from India and China and all over the world. We know the work and the studying and the level of education that requires. You know, sometimes I'll go to an eighth-grade graduation and there's all that pomp and circumstance and gowns and flowers. And I think to myself, it's just eighth grade. To really compete, they need to graduate high school, and then they need to graduate college, and they probably need a graduate degree too. An eighth-grade education doesn't cut it today. Let's give them a handshake and tell them to get their butts back in the library! It's up to us - as fathers and parents - to instill this ethic of excellence in our children. It's up to us to say to our daughters, don't ever let images on TV tell you what you are worth, because I expect you to dream without limit and reach for those goals. It's up to us to tell our sons, those songs on the radio may glorify violence, but in my house we live glory to achievement, self respect, and hard work. It's up to us to set these high expectations. And that means meeting those expectations ourselves. That means setting examples of excellence in our own lives. The second thing we need to do as fathers is pass along the value of empathy to our children. Not sympathy, but empathy - the ability to stand in somebody else's shoes; to look at the world through their eyes. Sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in "us," that we forget about our obligations to one another. There's a culture in our society that says remembering these obligations is somehow soft - that we can't show weakness, and so therefore we can't show kindness. But our young boys and girls see that. They see when you are ignoring or mistreating your wife. They see when you are inconsiderate at home; or when you are distant; or when you are thinking only of yourself. And so it's no surprise when we see that behavior in our schools or on our streets. That's why we pass on the values of empathy and kindness to our children by living them. We need to show our kids that you're not strong by putting other people down - you're strong by lifting them up. That's our responsibility as fathers. And by the way - it's a responsibility that also extends to Washington. Because if fathers are doing their part; if they're taking our responsibilities seriously to be there for their children, and set high expectations for them, and instill in them a sense of excellence and empathy, then our government should meet them halfway. We should be making it easier for fathers who make responsible choices and harder for those who avoid them. We should get rid of the financial penalties we impose on married couples right now, and start making sure that every dime of child support goes directly to helping children instead of some bureaucrat. We should reward fathers who pay that child support with job training and job opportunities and a larger Earned Income Tax Credit that can help them pay the bills. We should expand programs where registered nurses visit expectant and new mothers and help them learn how to care for themselves before the baby is born and what to do after - programs that have helped increase father involvement, women's employment, and children's readiness for school. We should help these new families care for their children by expanding maternity and paternity leave, and we should guarantee every worker more paid sick leave so they can stay home to take care of their child without losing their income. We should take all of these steps to build a strong foundation for our children. But we should also know that even if we do; even if we meet our obligations as fathers and parents; even if Washington does its part too, we will still face difficult challenges in our lives. There will still be days of struggle and heartache. The rains will still come and the winds will still blow. And that is why the final lesson we must learn as fathers is also the greatest gift we can pass on to our children - and that is the gift of hope. I'm not talking about an idle hope that's little more than blind optimism or willful ignorance of the problems we face. I'm talking about hope as that spirit inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better is waiting for us if we're willing to work for it and fight for it. If we are willing to believe. I was answering questions at a town hall meeting in Wisconsin the other day and a young man raised his hand, and I figured he'd ask about college tuition or energy or maybe the war in Iraq. But instead he looked at me very seriously and he asked, "What does life mean to you?" Now, I have to admit that I wasn't quite prepared for that one. I think I stammered for a little bit, but then I stopped and gave it some thought, and I said this: When I was a young man, I thought life was all about me - how do I make my way in the world, and how do I become successful and how do I get the things that I want. But now, my life revolves around my two little girls. And what I think about is what kind of world I'm leaving them. Are they living in a county where there's a huge gap between a few who are wealthy and a whole bunch of people who are struggling every day? Are they living in a county that is still divided by race? A country where, because they're girls, they don't have as much opportunity as boys do? Are they living in a country where we are hated around the world because we don't cooperate effectively with other nations? Are they living a world that is in grave danger because of what we've done to its climate? And what I've realized is that life doesn't count for much unless you're willing to do your small part to leave our children - all of our children - a better world. Even if it's difficult. Even if the work seems great. Even if we don't get very far in our lifetime. That is our ultimate responsibility as fathers and parents. We try. We hope. We do what we can to build our house upon the sturdiest rock. And when the winds come, and the rains fall, and they beat upon that house, we keep faith that our Father will be there to guide us, and watch over us, and protect us, and lead His children through the darkest of storms into light of a better day. That is my prayer for all of us on this Father's Day, and that is my hope for this country in the years ahead. May God Bless you and your children. Thank you.

I've seen a number of interviews given by some of the Boy Scouts that lived through the tornado in Iowa. These boys all were heroes. I was just so proud of these kids. They didn't panic, they didn't run they put their scout training to good use.
THEY INDEED ARE HEROES. Q: Is it true John McCain voted with George Bush 95 percent of the time? A: Yes, it's true, according to Congressional Quarterly's assessment of McCain's voting record. Q: Do the poor drive farther than the rich, as McCain claims? A: No. McCain is wrong when he claims repeatedly that low-income people drive more. In fact, the affluent drive twice as many miles. Have you noticed with the ever increasing cost of gas there are more and more reports of people finding their GAS not their CAR is being stolen. Some construction sites and farmers are having their diesel stolen from storage tanks at around $4000 to $5000.FIGHT THE SMEARS

ELITIST -- THAT'S IT. . . THAT'S ALL THEY GOT??? And that is just so wrong.
I keep hearing about what a Straight Talker John McCain is. . . I think it's just STRAIGHT BULLSHIT.YES I'M A LIBERAL. . . AND DAMN PROUD OF IT
Tonight I was doing some work editing some TV shows for my Blog and I had a program on PBS called Anyone and Everyone. It is a documentary about people as they recall their reactions to their teens or adult children coming out.
It was a powerful film that made me proud to know that I'm a LIBERAL and have nothing but respect for the gay community. I agree that they should have EVERY SINGLE RIGHT that I have. In my working life I've worked with two or three guys that were open. Remember I've been retired for about 10 years now and so these guys came out 20 or 30 years ago when it must have been very, very had to do. These guys where just like the rest of us. They came to work everyday worked hard and went home. Watching this show you saw how hard it was for the moms and dads to deal with these children and how hard it was for the child. The message I got was to remember that they are still your children and you just need to love them for who they are not what others think they are.HOW DO YOU SPELL WIMPY ANSWER
About 3 weeks ago (see May 30 post) I sent Dunkin Donuts an email telling them that they gave into to the FEAR of the right wing nuts by pulling their ad with Rachael Ray.
The other day this is the WIMPY reply that I got back from them. Thank you for sharing your comments. We always appreciate hearing from our customers. The intent of the online ad featuring Rachael Ray wearing a paisley silk scarf was to promote iced coffee. Given the surprising and truly unfortunate interpretation of this ad from some of our consumers, we decided to pull the ad and replace it with another as it is no longer serving its intended purpose, which was to simply promote our iced coffee---nothing more, nothing less. At Dunkin' Donuts, we value all of our customers and remain steadfastly committed to making your experiences with us both memorable and pleasant. THE NEW BUSH BUMPER STICKERS
Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.
Senator John McCain has aggressively tried to distance himself from Bush in an effort to avoid being tagged by Democrats as running for Bush's third term. However, as Think Progress notes, McCain's chief surrogate, Senator Lindsey Graham, did not adhere to that message during his appearance on ABC's This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.
Stephanopoulos asked Sen. Graham if McCain's tax and healthcare policies are essentially "an extension or maybe an enhancement of the Bush policies." Sen. Graham answered, "Yeah, absolutely."PUNDITS KEEP GETTING IT WRONG
Jon Stewart does it again. He nails the TV Pundits that get it wrong almost every time they open their mouths.
Watch and enjoy. * *FAIR AND BALANCED DOES IT AGAIN
On June 6th Fox News' America's Pulse, host E.D. Hill teased an upcoming segment about Sen. Barack and Michelle Obama's on-stage "fist bump" by saying, "A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab? The gesture everyone seems to interpret differently."
Well if she thinks that's what it means here are a few more she can add to her list.
FLASH: From the June 10 edition of Fox News' America's Pulse: HILL: Want to start the show by clarifying something I said on the show last Friday about an upcoming body language segment. Now, I mentioned various ways the Obamas' fist pump in St. Paul had been characterized in the media. I apologize because unfortunately, some thought I personally had characterized it inappropriately. I regret that. It was not my intention. And I certainly didn't mean to associate the word "terrorist" in any way to Senator Obama and his wife. Now, today, the senator is talking about the economy. That's a pretty lame apology. I don't think any of the crap the FOX NOISE grew puts on TV is said my mistake. They know damn well what they are saying. SHAME ON YOU FOX NOISE. * *
THE MEDIA DIDN'T DO THEIR JOB 3 OF 4
Five years after the invasion of Iraq, Scott McClellan, formerly White House press secretary and one of President George W. Bush's closest advisors, has published a tell-all book with little new information about the propaganda campaign and the role of the press in selling the war. On this week's JOURNAL, Bill Moyers talks to three prominent journalists to find out why the book is such big news and whether anything has changed.
Bill Moyers speaks with Greg Mitchell, editor of the influential magazine about the newspaper industry, EDITOR & PUBLISHER, and two members from McClatchy's Washington Bureau, one of the few news outlets to aggressively question the administration's case for invading Iraq: John Walcott, the bureau chief and John Landay, senior national security and intelligence correspondent. So why is it such big news? John Walcott explains that it wasn't the information that made McClellan's book such a fire-starter, it was the source: This is one of the first times, I think, that a member of the President's inner circle, one of the Texans who came to Washington with him and was regarded as being very close to him, has gone this far in denouncing what the administration did with respect to Iraq and has come right out and said that they deceived the American people. Cavuto provides conflicting tips to McCain June 9: Fox News' Neil Cavuto said John McCain shouldn't hide his temper because it shows his "passion." However, four months ago Cavuto had a different opinion saying, "...a lot of people are waiting for Senator McCain to snap; for him to do something crazy and that just as he's on the verge of winning this, he's gonna go. kinda like a Norman Bates deal." * *DOGS RULE - YOU CAN SEE THE LOVE

Bush's Brain.
I'M SO PISSED. . .
Yes I'm pissed. For the third time in less than a year I'm about ready to empty my freezer and refrigerator because of a power outage. From 5:45 pm last night until 5:30 am this morning I've been sitting in the dark. . . well sleeping. I was really pissed when the power first went out because I was watching Countdown and it was almost time for "WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD".
A day without WORST, is a day without Sunshine. That would be yesterday. Anyway It's a short Blog today.THE MEDIA DIDN'T DO THEIR JOB 2 OF 4
Five years after the invasion of Iraq, Scott McClellan, formerly White House press secretary and one of President George W.
Neocons -- Wrong again .
RFK died this day some 40 years ago.
Oil price is $128 per barrel."BUYING THE WAR" 5 OF 5 (16:45)
"Buying the War" examines the press coverage in the lead-up to the war as evidence of a paradigm shift in the role of journalists in democracy and asks, four years after the invasion, what's changed? "More and more the media become, I think, common carriers of administration statements and critics of the administration," says THE WASHINGTON POST's Walter Pincus. "We've sort of given up being independent on our own."
* *TIMELINE TO WAR IN IRAQ
March 7, 2003 -- Hans Blix before UN Security Council states that searches have "found no evidence of mobile biological production facilities in Iraq," and that "after three months of intrusive inspections, we have to date found no evidence or plausible indication of the revival of a nuclear weapons program in Iraq." He also says that Niger uranium documents are "not authentic."
March 16, 2003 -- At a summit in the Azores, President Bush and Prime Minister Blair issue an ultimatum to the United Nations that if it does not enforce its own demands for Iraqi disarmament, the United States and Britain will lead a coalition to war within days. Vice President Cheney on MEET THE PRESS: "My belief is that we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators." March 17, 2003 -- In a televised address to the nation, Bush gives Saddam Hussein 48 hours to leave Iraq or face invasion. March 20, 2003 -- War begins. US planes bombard military targets in Baghdad. British marines invade the Faw peninsula in the south of the country. April 9, 2003 -- With the help of a US Marine tank, an Iraqi crowd topples a giant statue of Saddam Hussein in central Baghdad. Widespread looting breaks out in April 22, 2003 -- The UN chief weapons inspector, Hans Blix, condemns British and American handling of the hunt for any possible weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. May 1, 2003 -- President Bush lands on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln wearing a flight suit and in front of a giant "Mission Accomplished" banner states, "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended."
SCOTT MCCLELLAN MUST FEEL GOOD THIS MORNING
When President Bush and Vice President Cheney began building their case for the pre-emptive invasion of Iraq, they did so in high profile speeches that received no vetting or approval from US intelligence agencies that were gathering information about Saddam Hussein's regime, according to a new Senate report.
It turned out that most of their assertions were wrong. THEY WERE LYING. . . IT'S CLEAR. . . IT'S SIMPLE. * The full report is available as .pdf files. <----( Click here. )
o Statements and implications by the President and Secretary of State suggesting that Iraq and al-Qa'ida had a partnership, or that Iraq had provided al-Qa'ida with weapons training, were not substantiated by the intelligence. o Statements by the President and the Vice President indicating that Saddam Hussein was prepared to give weapons of mass destruction to terrorist groups for attacks against the United States were contradicted by available intelligence information. o Statements by President Bush and Vice President Cheney regarding the postwar situation in Iraq, in terms of the political, security, and economic, did not reflect the concerns and uncertainties expressed in the intelligence products. o Statements by the President and Vice President prior to the October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate regarding Iraq's chemical weapons production capability and activities did not reflect the intelligence community's uncertainties as to whether such production was ongoing. o The Secretary of Defense's statement that the Iraqi government operated underground WMD facilities that were not vulnerable to conventional airstrikes because they were underground and deeply buried was not substantiated by available intelligence information. o The Intelligence Community did not confirm that Muhammad Atta met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague in 2001 as the Vice President repeatedly claimed.Cheney's speech and President Bush's address to the United Nations on Sept. 12, 2002, were not reviewed in advance by the Intelligence Community, according to the report. "This report again demonstrates how President Bush, Vice President Cheney and others made repeated assertions about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein that were not supported by, and at times outright contradicted, the intelligence available at the time," said Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), an Intelligence Committee member. "The administration made the case for war in Iraq by convincing the American people that Saddam Hussein had, or was on the verge of obtaining, a nuclear weapon and that he had a relationship with al Qaeda and would provide it with weapons of mass destruction to attack the United States. The administration used the 9/11 attacks to justify a war that has not only been waged in a country that had no connection to the attacks, but has seriously damaged our ability to fight al Qaeda. Sadly, after years of misconduct, these findings come as no surprise." This country is more than ready for a new administration that will be truthful with the American people.

January 16, 2003 -- Weapons inspectors find 12 empty chemical warheads, not accounted for in Iraq's 12,000 page weapons report. January 28, 2003 -- In his State of the Union address, President Bush alleges "the British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." JON STEWART INTERVIEWS SCOTT McCLELLAN PART 2 OF 2
Unlike O'Reilly, Jon Stewart does an interview about the book.
* *IT'S ABOUT ME. . . BILL-O
Bill O'Reilly's interview with Scott McClellan aired the other night and ever since then he has been looking for some confirmation that HE DONE GOOD.
This will go on for a week or more just like he did with his Hillary interview. I don't know why these folks go on his show because he'll use it against them for a week or more as will the other FOX NOISE shows. One of the themes of the interview was O'Reilly's point that the "hate Bush venues" and "pure Bush haters" were using McClellan. O'Reilly didn't mention anyone by name - but he did bring up, "these people at NBC and some at CNN," one time. Apparently O'Reilly tuned in to some of the interviews: "I watched you last week promoting the book with some of the most notorious bush haters in the country and you were on their programs." He can't bring himself to say their names how petty is that. At the start O'Reilly said: "The Hate Bush Press is Using You". McClellan answered O'Reilly's question on that and ones like, "what was going through your mind," in going on these shows. "First of all I think some of those were the first to come to the table," he said. "I'm glad to do all the shows." McClellan not only held his own but if you look at the transcript of the interview you'll see just ho un-objective this interview was. ( read it below ). Bill-O needs his ego stroked and so he has all these people on for the following days so that they will say what a great job he did on Scott McClellan. Here is a cross section of some comments I found: So this interview wasn't about McClellan's accusations, it was all about Bill and his endless Quixotic quest against the "far left smear merchants". Couldn't see that one coming! I mean, even McClellan's critics aren't arguing with the points he's made, they're just saying he's a traitor. Everybody knows he's just confirming what we've all gotten used to over the past eight years. Propaganda? Disinformation? Politics influencing policy? Yawn. Tell us something we didn't know. "Pure Bush Haters" = Olbermann. Period. Orally is the most transparent fool on TV. Bush haters include 72% of Americans. . . O'Reilly made every question about himself and then lectured McClellan and told him what to do. this guy is a joke. Scott McClellan walked all over Bill O. The interview was a total bust and wouldn't you know - after speculation that in a few days there would be the body language expert telling us what he really meant, there she was, makeover and all, telling us on the very same show what he really said. You blew it, Bill! No Jeremy Glick moment eh? Yet another attempt by corrupt Republicans to distort the facts, history and truth. So when CIA chief Tenet says "slam dunk" he meant to say flimsy at best. Or was he talking about basketball. So O'Reilly, who was so upset last week that McClellan wasn't on his show, gets Scotty on and asks him about . . . his appearances on other shows! Sheesh. This is what passes as an interview?*

These would include running the economy, keeping domestic peace, and protecting Iraq's borders-and doing it all for years, or perhaps decades. Are we ready for this long-term relationship?" December 7, 2002 -- Iraqi officials in Baghdad present 12,000 page weapons report to United Nations, as instructed by UN resolution 1441. Iraqi General Hasam Amin says report proves "that Iraq is empty of weapons of mass destruction." December 19, 2002 -- Hans Blix, UN Chief Weapons Inspector, states that the Iraqi weapons report does not contain substantial new information about its capability to produce weapons of mass destruction. CNN's Michael Ware dismissed Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) recent assertion that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) travel to Iraq in order to get a better sense of the war. Ware said that U.S. officials' trips to Iraq are usually "divorced from reality" adding that its "impossible" to "get much of a real picture." Ware then noted that McCain's own trips to Iraq have not helped him get a sense of the realities in Iraq:
WARE: I'll issue a word of caution, too. I mean Senator McCain has been here, what, more than half a dozen times. And we've seen him get assessments of Iraq terribly wrong. So I wouldn't be hanging my hat on the fact that your opponent has only been here once. While McCain said that he'd "be glad to go" with Obama to Iraq, a Washington Post reporter noted yesterday that there is "no way" the Secret Service would agree to McCain's plan. * *

THE NEW BUSH BUMPER STICKERS
Homelessness
This BULLSHIT that the Hillary campaign is putting out that they "Have the most vote of anyone." Is just that BULLSHIT.
One other thing for argument sake let's say she does. That doesn't change the fact that Barack Obama has the MOST delegates which by the way is what counts according to THE RULES. YES THE RULES. Here is a simple example:
"BUYING THE WAR" 1 OF 5 (14:58)
One of the unintended consequence of Scott McClellan's book "WHAT HAPPENED" has put some of the highly paid journalists on the defense for not doing their on the run up to the war.
Four years ago on May 1, President Bush landed on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln wearing a flight suit and delivered a speech in front of a giant "Mission Accomplished" banner. He was hailed by media stars as a "breathtaking" example of presidential leadership in toppling Saddam Hussein. Despite profound questions over the failure to locate weapons of mass destruction and the increasing violence in Baghdad, many in the press confirmed the White House's claim that the war was won. MSNBC's Chris Matthews declared, "We're all neo-cons now;" NPR's Bob Edwards said, "The war in Iraq is essentially over;" and Fortune magazine's Jeff Birnbaum said, "It is amazing how thorough the victory in Iraq really was in the broadest context." How did the mainstream press get it so wrong? How did the evidence disputing the existence of weapons of mass destruction and the link between Saddam Hussein to 9-11 continue to go largely unreported? "What the conservative media did was easy to fathom; they had been cheerleaders for the White House from the beginning and were simply continuing to rally the public behind the President - no questions asked. How mainstream journalists suspended skepticism and scrutiny remains an issue of significance that the media has not satisfactorily explored," says Moyers. "How the administration marketed the war to the American people has been well covered, but critical questions remain: How and why did the press buy it, and what does it say about the role of journalists in helping the public sort out fact from propaganda?" Today and for the next 5 days you can see this Bill Moyers story about how the journalists bought into the war in Iraq. These are longer videos than normal so I'll post the running time in each title. * *TIMELINE TO WAR IN IRAQ
January 20, 2001 -- George W. Bush is inaugurated as the 43rd President of the United States.
September 11, 2001 -- Al Qaeda attacks the United States, causing the deaths of almost 3000 people. Within hours after the attacks, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld puts Saddam Hussein on target list. September 14, 2001 -- President Bush speaks at Ground Zero, "And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." September 17, 2001 -- Dan Rather on David Letterman, "George Bush is the President, he makes the decisions and you know, as just one American wherever he wants me to line up, just tell me where." In the months after 9/11 many networks note increasing public pressure over coverage. September 22, 2001 -- Knight Ridder reporter Warren Strobel publishes a story with the lede: "While President Bush's top advisers debate whether to target Iraq for devastating bombardment as part of the U.S.-led war on terrorism, U.S. officials and terrorism experts say there is little evidence Saddam Hussein's regime played a role in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon." October 2001 -- Pentagon dispatches former CIA director, James Woolsey, to Europe to search for connection between Iraq and the 9/11 attacks. This is funny. Bill-O is really pissed cause Scott McClellan didn't come on his show first and he can't bring himself to say Keith Olbermann's name.

NICE GOING YESTERDAY DNC !!!
-- A Democratic panel approves seating full Florida and Michigan delegations, giving each delegate half a vote. I think this is a good move for Barack and his family. Sen. Obama is leaving Trinity United Church of Christ, his longtime religious home in Chicago and a place that has triggered repeated controversies during his presidential bid.DOGS RULE - YOU CAN SEE THE LOVE

I AM YOUR DOG
Author Unknown
I am your dog, and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life. Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now. That comes with age. The gray hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle. You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do you see a spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the world? A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for the just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down, if even for a few minutes to be with me. So many times you have been saddened by the words you read on that screen, of other of my kind, passing. Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat. Sometimes, we age so slowly before your eyes that you may not even seem to know until the very end, when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract clouded eyes. Still the love is always there, even when we must take that long sleep, to run free in a distant land. I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you will shed the water from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief fills their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have just "One more day" with me. Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and grieves me. We have NOW, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the floor, and look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart. Come to me not as "alpha" or as "trainer" or even "Mom or Dad", come to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another's eyes, and talk. I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I may tell you something profound about myself, or even life in general. You decided to have me in your life because you wanted a soul to share such things with. Someone very different from you, and here I am. I am a dog, but I am alive. I feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can revel in the differences of our spirits and souls. I do not think of you as a "Dog on two fee" -I know what you are. You are human, in all your quirkiness, and I love you still. Now come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow down if only for 15 minutes. Look deep into my eyes, and whisper to my ears Speak with your heart, with your joy and I will know your true self. We may not have tomorrow, and life is oh so very short.
