Tom Coburn (R-OK): 'I Think It Was Probably A Mistake Going To Iraq'. Gee do ya think!
During a town hall meeting in Muskogee, Oklahoma this past weekend, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) admitted that it was "a mistake" for the United States to invade Iraq in 2003. "I will tell you personally that I think it was probably a mistake going to Iraq," Coburn told the crowd. The senator "made it clear" during the town hall meeting that "he did not believe the U.S. could withdraw" from Iraq, but it is unclear when he decided the war was "a mistake" in the first place. Though Coburn was not a member of Congress when the war was authorized in 2002, he made it clear during his 2004 Senate run that he supported the choice to go to war: QUESTION: Was the war in Iraq a mistake? COBURN: Absolutely not. I do not believe that the Iraq war was a distraction in the war on terror, as John Kerry and my opponent have argued. [Tulsa World, 10/18/2004] We've been in this war now for 5-6 years spent billions and lost almost 4,000 of our troops and he now says he thinks it PROBABLY was a mistake? It was just two days ago (2/26/8) when I did a post on this Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston under the title "SPREADING HATE AND LIES". Well he is back acting DUMBER than ever.
Last night he was on the Dan Abrams show on MSNBC. This guy just made a COMPLETE ASS of himself. It's one thing to argue a point when the point you are trying to make could go one way or the other. But when you are just flat out LYING about whatever it is you are arguing about you will lose every time. As I point out in yesterdays post this LAPEL PIN issue is just BULLSHIT just like this FAMILY VALUES CRAP that the republicans put out. They are afraid of Guys because in their little minds they have some kind effect on their marriage. The truth is it's there running around with call girls and that kind of CRAP that hurts their marriage. Speaking of FAMILY VALUES how do these guys teach their children to grow up to be quality citizens when they themselves feel it's perfectly OK for them to LIE. Dan points out that this JERK isn't warring a pin yet he finds it OK to criticize Barack Obama. Listen to his answer it'll drive you crazy. His logic (poor choice of words) is laughable. Well it seems that the "Most Trusted Name in News" (CNN) has some "SPLAININ TO DO" with this Poll they ran on their WEB Site. Look at the question and ask yourself if you have EVER seen that asked about any other candidate.
To me it's just offensive that a main stream news organization would stoop this low. You might see it on the Bill O'Reilly show or on a Right-wing wacko Blog but CNN? I see it as part of the media making the news not reporting the news and shame on CNN. Will CNN apologize for running it, we'll have to wait and see but don't hold your breath.PINS MAKE THE MAN - - - RIGHT?
You must have seen this BULLSHIT about Barack not wearing his Lapel Pin. This is such nonsense I'm embarrassed that I'm even talking about it. But like so much of the CRAP that comes from the RIGHT-WING NUTS you just have to keep throwing water on it to keep it from becoming a forest fire burning out of control.
Here is the back story: Sen. Barack Obama's refusal to wear an American flag lapel pin along with a photo of him not putting his hand over his heart during the National Anthem led conservatives on Internet and in the media to question his patriotism. I came across this little item on the WEB that puts this bad boy to bed once and for all. Since Obama and the Democrats seem to have such a big problem with patriotism and lapel pins, I guess we need to have yet another photo montage of prominent Republicans demonstrating how to wear a lapel pin. Here goes:
Rick Renzi (R-AZ), recently indicted on multiple counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, extortion and insurance fraud, looks positively patriotic with his lapel pin.
Always the dapper and patriotic dresser, Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA) displays his lapel pin after having his house raided by the Feds after a two-year investigation.
No one can deny that Rep. Randall "Duke" Cunningham (R-CA) doesn't make a statement with this lapel pin. Sadly, the Duke's fashion choices are now limited as he is incarcerated for up to ten years after pleading guilty to tax evasion, conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, and wire fraud. Come 2016, the Duke will no doubt be modeling his patriotism in the form of a dashing lapel pin once again.
Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) looks tanned and very patriotic with his red hair and blue suit and patriotic lapel pin. Sadly, his red hair might be gray before he can once again get the perfect tan, as he is currently serving a prison term for conspiracy to defraud the United States and for a charge of falsifying financial disclosure forms.
Former Governor Bob Taft (R-OH) is dressed to impress with this lapel pin. Taft plead no contest to multiple misdemeanors.
Larry Craig looks positively magnificent as he models this doubly patriotic lapel pin during his mug shot for a widely discussed bathroom incident.
You know, now that I think about it, maybe it isn't that big of a deal whether or not Obama wears a lapel pin.
Looks like John McCain feels the same way. Funny huh. NO PINS HERE!

On Friday night's Bill Maher show, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) claimed that Barack Obama refuses to say the pledge of allegiance to the American flag. This along with other bogus claims about Obama come from the hoax emails circulating on the internet.
I thought we had already dispatched this nonsense once, but it appears to have resurfaced and this Georgia congressman has decided to pass the lie on. Watch the video here. * * I sent this email to the good congressman, not that it will do any good or that I'll get an answer, but it still made me feel good.Rep. Jack Kingston, I saw your appearance on the Bill Maher show the other night and I couldn't believe I heard you right when you claimed that "BARACK OBAMA REFUSES TO SAY THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE." Then you went on to say "HE WON'T EVEN WARE A PUT AN AMERICAN LAPEL PIN ON HIS COAT." First let me say you must be just like him because I noticed that you weren't warring an AMERICAN LAPEL PIN yourself. Reminds me of the old saying "People without sin, let him cast the first stone). That isn't you. As an Elected Representative from Georgia you OWE Barack Obama an apology. You must know that as a member of the United States Senate he is required to open each session that he leads with the Pledge Of Allegiance. As to the picture you reference it was NOT the Pledge it was the National Anthem and there is NO rule that you do anything other than be respectful. Finally you need to get yourself a little computer background and learn to use GOOGLE to do a search like " obama won't say the pledge of allegiance" and you will find over 57,000 results to that search. Also you could go to either Snopes.com or FactCheck.com and check out this nonsense. You practice the style of politics that Senator Obama is fighting against. A fight I believe he will win. I watched the democratic debate last night. I found it to be one of the best if not the very best one yet. But there was something about the closing remarks that really made me sit up and take notice. That's the subject of the video below.
I think there was something inevitable in Hillary's last few words. As she talked she got almost teary eyed. She said that she was "honored, just absolutely honored to be here with Barack Obama." And that she "hopes that she will be able to say the same thing about the American people." To me I think she was saying the race is over and she knows it and was taking this time to show that there was no animosity between her and Barack. I THINK IT WAS A CLASSY MOMENT. * *THERE IS NO HOPE FOR BILL O'REILLY
That Fair and Balanced guy Bill O'Reilly at FOX NOISE is at it again. As Keith Olbermann said yesterday in my post "Do you think that words matter" it turns out to Bill they don't.
In his Back Of The Book segment he has his OMBUDSWOMAN on to talk about his Michelle Obama comment where he used the word "LYNCHING" First of all I looked up the word OMBUDSMAN and here is what I found: A man/woman who investigates complaints and mediates fair settlements, especially between aggrieved parties such as consumers or students and an institution or organization. So in this segment BillO has Laurie Dhue his so called Ombudswoman on to discuss his comments. To me this is a bunch of FLUFF it's a joke and they both know it. I guess the only ones that don't seem to know it are his hard core viewers. He keeps trying to say that he was defending her and will not address the real issue of his using the word "LYNCHING". It's one of those words like the "N" word and now "KNAPPY HEADED H**" The guy just can't seem to admit he is wrong or made a mistake and so he looks for ways to distract from the real issues. Here are three examples of what I mean. 1. The issue on his comments about going to a restaurant in Harlem where black folks acted normal. What does he do he get Al Sharpton on to show that he was one of the boys. Al is just happy to get some free air time he's yesterdays news. 2. His slamming of John Edwards for saying there are thousands of homeless vets turned into a nightmare for him because BillO said that was a lie. The Vets Administration itself supports Edwards. So what does BillO do he says he's "PUSHING FOR A NEW GI BILL" like he has anything to do with it. He'll report on it from time to time. BIG FREAKING DEAL. 3. Now this LYNCHING thing he uses the Ombudsman nonsense to address the issue by saying he was actually supporting Michelle. What BULLSHIT. He will not admit his mistake in using that word no matter what. I still believe his days as the big star of cable TV are numbered as are many of the right wing talk radio hosts. Well it seems that Bill O'Reilly stepped into it the other day with his use of the word lynch. Remember the golf announcer a few weeks ago used that word while talking about Tiger Woods. She apologized and was suspended for two weeks.

Prairie View A&M students organized to protest the decision, because they felt it hindered their ability to vote. For background, Prairie View A&M is one of Texas' historically Black universities. It has a very different demographic feel than the rest of the county. There has been a long history of dispute over what the students feel is disenfranchisement. There was a lot of outrage in 2006, when students felt they were unfairly denied the right to vote when their registrations somehow did not get processed. According to an article in today's Houston Chronicle: Waller County has faced numerous lawsuits involving voting rights in the past 30 years and remains under investigation by the Texas Attorney General's Office based on complaints by local black leaders. Those allegations, concerning the November 2006 general election, related to voting machine failures, inadequate staffing and long delays for voting results. The article adds, "I was angry after registering to vote in the 2006 election only to be turned away at the voting booth," said sophomore Dee Dee Williams. So what are the students doing? 1000 students, along with an additional 1000 friends and supporters, are this morning walking the 7.3 miles between Prairie View and Hempstead in order to vote today. According to the piece I saw on the news (there's no video up, so I can't link to it), the students plan to all vote today. There are only 2 machines available at the courthouse for early voting, so they hope to tie them up all day and into the night. I love stories like this. In the face of an obvious ploy to suppress the vote, these young people stood up for their rights and showed that they will not be cowed. Republicans should be worried, because this is a committed electorate.

For me it's starting to get harder and harder to think of a reason that I should vote for Hillary should she win this nomination.
Let me explain. These feelings have only started recently for me. Before that I felt I could easily support either candidate, now I'm not so sure. I think it really started when Hillary went off the deep end over the "pimped out" comment made by David Schuster a week or so ago. Yes she is a mother but Chelsea is around 27 years old and working on her mom's campaign. Protest is fine but accept the apology and move on. But that's not what she did. She tried to make a federal case out of it to the point that David Schuster might have been fired. The Superdelegates is another issue as she goes after them very aggressively trying to get them to vote for her. Also there is the issue of Florida and Michigan. The study, written by a civilian Marine Corps official, Franz J. Gayl and obtained by The Associated Press, accuses the service of "gross mismanagement" that delayed deliveries of the mine-resistant, ambush-protected trucks for more than two years. Cost was a driving factor in the decision to turn down the request for the so-called MRAPs, according to the study. Stateside authorities saw the hulking vehicles, which can cost as much as a $1 million each, as a financial threat to programs aimed at developing lighter vehicles that were years from being fielded. After Defense Secretary Robert Gates declared the MRAP (pronounced M-rap) the Pentagon's No. 1 acquisition priority in May 2007, the trucks began to be shipped to Iraq in large quantities. The failure to send these alternative weapons to Iraq has led to U.S. casualties and the deaths of Iraqi civilians, Gayl has said. Gayl filed for whistle-blower protection in May with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. He said he was threatened with disciplinary action after meeting with congressional staff on Capitol Hill. Bremerton as well as almost all the cities and towns that rely on the Washington State Ferry System to get back and forth across the sound have lost service because of the age of these boats. No one looked to the future to see what needed to be done to replace these old boats.
Here is a letter I wrote to the Kitsap Sun yesterday about this problem. I read with interest and a big chuckle at the show of concern by the Bremerton City Mayor in today's Sun. I guess someone woke him up from his long snooze. According to the article he feels like "nobody could figure out how to solve the problem". That kind of thinking reminds me of what is going on in Seattle with their Viaduct that was damaged in an earth quake a few years back. Nobody knows how to solve that problem either. I figure the next earth quake that brings it down and kills some people will give them some ideas. A few years ago their was a group that tried to get a bridge/tunnel between Kitsap, Vashon Is. and Seattle. There was a Booz-Allen study that was done about 10 years ago that could be used to get the ball rolling. The plan would eliminate the need for all Car Ferries between Bremerton, Southworth, and Vashon. There are many advantages to this plan for example it will save on Ferry construction, provide 10 minute crossing time. The thing about this bridge is that it's PART OF THE HIGHWAY SYSTEM and will have continuing funding. Mr Mayor you can use this idea for free, no charge. * *SOS DAVID SCHUSTER

I don't ever remember the Pearl Harbor attack as being used like the 9/11 attack is used today. Oh, to be sure they used it during War Bond drives, even Bugs Bunny sold War Bonds. Gas rationing was used, there were four rationing classifications. An "A" classification, which could be had by almost anyone, entitled the holder to four gallons a week. A "B" classification was worth about eight gallons a week. "C" was reserved for important folk, like doctors, and the magic "X" went to people whose very survival required that they be able to purchase gasoline in unlimited quantities. The main purpose of the restrictions on gas purchasing was to conserve tires not gas. The Japanese armies in the Far East, you see, had cut the U.S. off from its chief supply of rubber. We had old used tire drives, paper drives and metal drives and yes War Bond drives. We all pitched in and did our part. BUT WHAT THEY DIDN'T TRY TO DO WAS SCARE THE HELL OUT OF AMERICA. * *ONCE AGAIN IT'S TIME TO SCARE THE S**T OUT OF AMERICA

On a final 68-29 vote, the Senate just easily passed the surveillance bill with retroactive immunity for the telecoms intact. Once again, a large number of Dems crossed over.
The new bill would authorize the president to conduct warrantless surveillance of foreign targets even when they are communicating with someone in the United States. Among the Dems voting for the bill were Sens. Jim Webb (D-VA), Kent Conrad (D-ND), Max Baucus (D-MT), Herb Kohl (D-WI), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Evan Bayh (D-IN), Tim Johnson (D-SD), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), Bob Casey (D-PA), Ken Salazar (D-CO), Daniel Inouye (D-HI), Ben Nelson (D-NE), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Tom Carper (D-DE), and Mary Landrieu (D-LA). All this dust up of the David Shuster "pimped out" comments is laughable when you realize that all these cable channels have done the same and maybe even worse.
I found this on the WEB to show that they all used the word but isn't it awful when you do but not when I do it.CNN HeadlineNews' host Glenn Beck labeled anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan a "pretty big prostitute" and "tragedy pimp" during his conservative radio show, for which he was declared Olbermann's "Worst Person in the World". Fox News apparently doesn't have a problem with "pimp" being used as a political attack on its own network, either. Although you wouldn't know that from Monday morning's segment. Conservative host Sean Hannity agreed with a guest's assessment that Al Gore was "pimping" the environment for political gain, and he featured as a guest a pastor who said Democrats -- but not Republicans, of course -- "pimp" the church to snag votes. Of course, Hannity, too, couldn't resist a dig at MSNBC after Schuster's comments last week, calling them despicable . . . inappropriate, out of touch, out of line." The Sept. 27, 2007, Olbermann "Special Comment," which became the focus of Fox's ire Monday argued that Bush was overstepping the line between military and civilian leadership by essentially relying on Petraeus as his public salesman for his political war strategy. The commentary, which Fox barely bothered to quote from, listed a half-dozen historical examples of presidents and the military going to great lengths to avoid crossing that line, but even the "pimped out" reference was not its most hyperbolic rhetoric. Olbermann also said Bush was being "dictatorial" in hiding "behind the General's skirts," and he said the president was starting "down the long, slippery, suicidal slope towards a Military Junta."* *

Towards the end of last week David Shuster, an MSNBC a reporter who I really like made a remark about Chelsea Clinton saying in part that the Clinton campaign had "pimped out Chelsea." To many it was a very bad choice of words.
But I wondered about that. I'm older than dirt and when I heard it I really didn't think much of it. So I went to my GOOGLE search thing and entered "pimped out" and found the Urban Dictionary which is a slang dictionary with your definitions. Here is a sample of what I found.So you see it's mostly complementary. But that's not how it was taken by the Hillary camp. She sent a letter to MSNBC and said"1. pimped out: State your car will be in if you have added the gold trim package, curb feelers, continential kit, white wall tires, rims that are off set and stick out at least 4" from the side of the car body. 2. pimped out: Used as an adjective: cool, awesome, worthy of a pimp or pimpette "Dshaun's got a pimped out ride." 3. pimped out: Having excessive embellishments or ornaments, particularly of the flashy kind. By the amount of bling-bling he was flashing, we knew he was pimped out. 4. pimped out: tight, nice,cool he had his shit all pimped out. 5. Pimped out: real hot lookin. . . feaaalinn ggoooog G. . . just a clean look u got going on. . . 6. pimped out: pimp out is a look. . . a smoothness its the way you act. . . it refers to the early 60's and 70's when black men and women were smooth. 7. pimped out: Funked up. The campaign did not explain under what conditions Clinton would participate in MSNBC's debate. Also Chelsea is no longer a kid, she's 20 something. She is working on her mom's campaign and in the public eye. One thing I don't get is people like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and many others say much worse things and not a word is said about that. Hillary has said over and over that she has fought the right wing for years. Now a reporter makes a stupid comment and Hillary goes BLISTIC. Threatening to boycott the MSNBC Debates while at the same time going on FOX NOISE almost weekly. Go figure. If she is so TOUGH she needs to fight back but not with a "I'm talking my ball and going home" mentality. The Republicans will eat her up. David Shuster should get back to work NOW. This has now turned into a non-issue.

I left home this morning at noon and got to the school that held my caucus. I didn't get home until a little after three.
In my group when all was said and done Barack got 17 votes, Clinton got 10 votes and we had one person that couldn't make up his mind and remains undecided. I did break a long standing rule of mine and that is to NOT RAISE YOUR HAND FOR ANYTHING, but I'm so excited about this election when they asked for a show of hands for someone to be a Delegate to the County Convention/District Caucus from my Precinct I raised my hand and boom was elected to attend. So now I'm going on April 12th to that event.

The controversial interrogation technique of waterboarding was a hot topic in a House Judiciary Committee hearing the other day, at which Attorney General Michael Mukasey said the Justice Department would not investigate the legality of the actions of U.S. interrogators on terror detainees.
Vice President Dick Cheney, an ardent defender of U.S. tactics in the war on terror, was "defiant" about the use of waterboarding on suspects in an appearance today at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. Cheney said that he supported President Bush's national security decisions, which included the approval of waterboarding along with other harsh interrogation tactics. "I've been proud to stand by [Bush], by the decisions he's made," said Cheney, who then asked aloud, "Would I support those decisions today?" "You're damn right I would," he answered himself, to loud cheers. This from a man that WAS WRONG THEN, IS WRONG NOW AND WILL ALWAYS BE WRONG. Bill O'Reilly has taken so much heat over his remarks about John Edwards and stuck his foot in his big mouth when he maintained that there were not Homeless Vets sleeping under bridges in America.
So now he is in damage control mode talking about and promoting some BIG INATIVE for the past week or so. Well his big announcement was last night when he said in his opening Talking Points Memo that "Sen. John Kerry and Rep. Peter King will work with us to pass legislation that will reward our servicepeople." The ARROGANCE of O'Reilly is limitless. He had Peter King (R-NY) and Col. David Hunt on and played a clip of him and Kerry on the radio earlier. O'Reilly said to Kerry that he (Kerry), King, Webb and everybody else'll sit down and then we ("The Factor") will handle the opposition. He pronounced "this is the first time ever a media operation has partnered up with lawmakers to try to get something done in Washington. That's just not true. I remember a few years back when Don Imus was pushing for an increase for Life insurance for the troops. Imus and his wife also went to congress to fight for Autism funding. It's funny how O'Reilly can't seem to get his facts straight. He clarified that the Factor's role is simply oversight, to keep viewers informed about the bill's progress and to monitor any opposition. Does this really warrant the big weeks-long lead-up and announcement, that the number one cable news program (Fair and Balanced!) is going to actually be doing some journalism? Or was this the best he could scramble up for reputation rehab, tagging himself onto ongoing legislation? Turns out that this is an update to the GI bill; the treatment of returning vets has been spotty and in too many cases disgraceful similar to the problems of life insurance and the condition at Walter Reed a few years back. O'Reilly's role? is going to put on the journalist hat and keep an eye on the legislation, informing viewers as to its progress. All the build up for something that was in progress for quite some time shows just how shallow O'Reilly is. He's hoping that this will take the heat off his stupid remarks about the Homeless Vets. Something he will never apologize for saying. I've said it before that these folks on the right are losing their voice. American want change they don't want this BULLSHIT. DOES YOUR VOTE COUNT IN WASHINGTON STATE
Two dates to remember. First is Caucus Saturday February 9th and the second is February 19 th the Presidential Primary Election.
What I found out today as I tried to locate where I should go to attend the democratic caucus was that really the write in ballot I got doesn't seem to mean much. The Democrats and Republicans have different rules. Democrats are choosing all of their delegates at the caucus, and the Feb 19 primary does not change that outcome. Just for an example suppose that on Feb 9 all the caucuses selected Barack Obama and that on the Feb 19 primary election all the votes went for Hillary Clinton. Barack STILL WINS and that's the way it is. I don't understand all the back story but I guess it goes back a to a fight or lawsuit last year. So I'm going to the my very first caucus this coming Saturday. You should too if you want your vote to mean something. Oh BTW I'm going to send in my mail in Vote too. * *SHE DOESN'T GET IT

Yesterday a group from Fitzgerald House, an "organization representing homeless veterans," went to FOX NEWS to bring their fight for recognition to Fox's doorstep.
The plan was to give a petition signed by 17,000 people demanding an apology from O'Reilly for his ignorance and abuse. In a press release, Brave New Films and Fitzgerald House say they "have found that it is very easy to locate homeless veterans and are willing to help O'Reilly find them if his desire to help homeless vets is sincere." Well the BIG MOUTH O'Reilly didn't have the guts to meet with the group and so had his staff handle it.HERE IS BILL-O TALKING ABOUT VETS AND EDWARDS
