Tom Coburn (R-OK): 'I Think It Was Probably A Mistake Going To Iraq'. Gee do ya think!
During a town hall meeting in Muskogee, Oklahoma this past weekend, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) admitted that it was "a mistake" for the United States to invade Iraq in 2003. "I will tell you personally that I think it was probably a mistake going to Iraq," Coburn told the crowd. The senator "made it clear" during the town hall meeting that "he did not believe the U.S. could withdraw" from Iraq, but it is unclear when he decided the war was "a mistake" in the first place. Though Coburn was not a member of Congress when the war was authorized in 2002, he made it clear during his 2004 Senate run that he supported the choice to go to war: QUESTION: Was the war in Iraq a mistake? COBURN: Absolutely not. I do not believe that the Iraq war was a distraction in the war on terror, as John Kerry and my opponent have argued. [Tulsa World, 10/18/2004] We've been in this war now for 5-6 years spent billions and lost almost 4,000 of our troops and he now says he thinks it PROBABLY was a mistake? It was just two days ago (2/26/8) when I did a post on this Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston under the title "SPREADING HATE AND LIES". Well he is back acting DUMBER than ever.
Last night he was on the Dan Abrams show on MSNBC. This guy just made a COMPLETE ASS of himself. It's one thing to argue a point when the point you are trying to make could go one way or the other. But when you are just flat out LYING about whatever it is you are arguing about you will lose every time. As I point out in yesterdays post this LAPEL PIN issue is just BULLSHIT just like this FAMILY VALUES CRAP that the republicans put out. They are afraid of Guys because in their little minds they have some kind effect on their marriage. The truth is it's there running around with call girls and that kind of CRAP that hurts their marriage. Speaking of FAMILY VALUES how do these guys teach their children to grow up to be quality citizens when they themselves feel it's perfectly OK for them to LIE. Dan points out that this JERK isn't warring a pin yet he finds it OK to criticize Barack Obama. Listen to his answer it'll drive you crazy. His logic (poor choice of words) is laughable. Well it seems that the "Most Trusted Name in News" (CNN) has some "SPLAININ TO DO" with this Poll they ran on their WEB Site. Look at the question and ask yourself if you have EVER seen that asked about any other candidate.
To me it's just offensive that a main stream news organization would stoop this low. You might see it on the Bill O'Reilly show or on a Right-wing wacko Blog but CNN? I see it as part of the media making the news not reporting the news and shame on CNN. Will CNN apologize for running it, we'll have to wait and see but don't hold your breath.PINS MAKE THE MAN - - - RIGHT?
You must have seen this BULLSHIT about Barack not wearing his Lapel Pin. This is such nonsense I'm embarrassed that I'm even talking about it. But like so much of the CRAP that comes from the RIGHT-WING NUTS you just have to keep throwing water on it to keep it from becoming a forest fire burning out of control.
Here is the back story: Sen. Barack Obama's refusal to wear an American flag lapel pin along with a photo of him not putting his hand over his heart during the National Anthem led conservatives on Internet and in the media to question his patriotism. I came across this little item on the WEB that puts this bad boy to bed once and for all. Since Obama and the Democrats seem to have such a big problem with patriotism and lapel pins, I guess we need to have yet another photo montage of prominent Republicans demonstrating how to wear a lapel pin. Here goes:
Rick Renzi (R-AZ), recently indicted on multiple counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, extortion and insurance fraud, looks positively patriotic with his lapel pin.
Always the dapper and patriotic dresser, Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA) displays his lapel pin after having his house raided by the Feds after a two-year investigation.
No one can deny that Rep. Randall "Duke" Cunningham (R-CA) doesn't make a statement with this lapel pin. Sadly, the Duke's fashion choices are now limited as he is incarcerated for up to ten years after pleading guilty to tax evasion, conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, and wire fraud. Come 2016, the Duke will no doubt be modeling his patriotism in the form of a dashing lapel pin once again.
Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) looks tanned and very patriotic with his red hair and blue suit and patriotic lapel pin. Sadly, his red hair might be gray before he can once again get the perfect tan, as he is currently serving a prison term for conspiracy to defraud the United States and for a charge of falsifying financial disclosure forms.
Former Governor Bob Taft (R-OH) is dressed to impress with this lapel pin. Taft plead no contest to multiple misdemeanors.
Larry Craig looks positively magnificent as he models this doubly patriotic lapel pin during his mug shot for a widely discussed bathroom incident.
You know, now that I think about it, maybe it isn't that big of a deal whether or not Obama wears a lapel pin.
Looks like John McCain feels the same way. Funny huh. NO PINS HERE!

On Friday night's Bill Maher show, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) claimed that Barack Obama refuses to say the pledge of allegiance to the American flag. This along with other bogus claims about Obama come from the hoax emails circulating on the internet.
I thought we had already dispatched this nonsense once, but it appears to have resurfaced and this Georgia congressman has decided to pass the lie on. Watch the video here. * * I sent this email to the good congressman, not that it will do any good or that I'll get an answer, but it still made me feel good.Rep. Jack Kingston, I saw your appearance on the Bill Maher show the other night and I couldn't believe I heard you right when you claimed that "BARACK OBAMA REFUSES TO SAY THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE." Then you went on to say "HE WON'T EVEN WARE A PUT AN AMERICAN LAPEL PIN ON HIS COAT." First let me say you must be just like him because I noticed that you weren't warring an AMERICAN LAPEL PIN yourself. Reminds me of the old saying "People without sin, let him cast the first stone). That isn't you. As an Elected Representative from Georgia you OWE Barack Obama an apology. You must know that as a member of the United States Senate he is required to open each session that he leads with the Pledge Of Allegiance. As to the picture you reference it was NOT the Pledge it was the National Anthem and there is NO rule that you do anything other than be respectful. Finally you need to get yourself a little computer background and learn to use GOOGLE to do a search like " obama won't say the pledge of allegiance" and you will find over 57,000 results to that search. Also you could go to either Snopes.com or FactCheck.com and check out this nonsense. You practice the style of politics that Senator Obama is fighting against. A fight I believe he will win. I watched the democratic debate last night. I found it to be one of the best if not the very best one yet. But there was something about the closing remarks that really made me sit up and take notice. That's the subject of the video below.
I think there was something inevitable in Hillary's last few words. As she talked she got almost teary eyed. She said that she was "honored, just absolutely honored to be here with Barack Obama." And that she "hopes that she will be able to say the same thing about the American people." To me I think she was saying the race is over and she knows it and was taking this time to show that there was no animosity between her and Barack. I THINK IT WAS A CLASSY MOMENT. * *THERE IS NO HOPE FOR BILL O'REILLY
That Fair and Balanced guy Bill O'Reilly at FOX NOISE is at it again. As Keith Olbermann said yesterday in my post "Do you think that words matter" it turns out to Bill they don't.
In his Back Of The Book segment he has his OMBUDSWOMAN on to talk about his Michelle Obama comment where he used the word "LYNCHING" First of all I looked up the word OMBUDSMAN and here is what I found: A man/woman who investigates complaints and mediates fair settlements, especially between aggrieved parties such as consumers or students and an institution or organization. So in this segment BillO has Laurie Dhue his so called Ombudswoman on to discuss his comments. To me this is a bunch of FLUFF it's a joke and they both know it. I guess the only ones that don't seem to know it are his hard core viewers. He keeps trying to say that he was defending her and will not address the real issue of his using the word "LYNCHING". It's one of those words like the "N" word and now "KNAPPY HEADED H**" The guy just can't seem to admit he is wrong or made a mistake and so he looks for ways to distract from the real issues. Here are three examples of what I mean. 1. The issue on his comments about going to a restaurant in Harlem where black folks acted normal. What does he do he get Al Sharpton on to show that he was one of the boys. Al is just happy to get some free air time he's yesterdays news. 2. His slamming of John Edwards for saying there are thousands of homeless vets turned into a nightmare for him because BillO said that was a lie. The Vets Administration itself supports Edwards. So what does BillO do he says he's "PUSHING FOR A NEW GI BILL" like he has anything to do with it. He'll report on it from time to time. BIG FREAKING DEAL. 3. Now this LYNCHING thing he uses the Ombudsman nonsense to address the issue by saying he was actually supporting Michelle. What BULLSHIT. He will not admit his mistake in using that word no matter what. I still believe his days as the big star of cable TV are numbered as are many of the right wing talk radio hosts. Well it seems that Bill O'Reilly stepped into it the other day with his use of the word lynch. Remember the golf announcer a few weeks ago used that word while talking about Tiger Woods. She apologized and was suspended for two weeks.

Prairie View A&M students organized to protest the decision, because they felt it hindered their ability to vote. For background, Prairie View A&M is one of Texas' historically Black universities. It has a very different demographic feel than the rest of the county. There has been a long history of dispute over what the students feel is disenfranchisement. There was a lot of outrage in 2006, when students felt they were unfairly denied the right to vote when their registrations somehow did not get processed. According to an article in today's Houston Chronicle: Waller County has faced numerous lawsuits involving voting rights in the past 30 years and remains under investigation by the Texas Attorney General's Office based on complaints by local black leaders. Those allegations, concerning the November 2006 general election, related to voting machine failures, inadequate staffing and long delays for voting results. The article adds, "I was angry after registering to vote in the 2006 election only to be turned away at the voting booth," said sophomore Dee Dee Williams. So what are the students doing? 1000 students, along with an additional 1000 friends and supporters, are this morning walking the 7.3 miles between Prairie View and Hempstead in order to vote today. According to the piece I saw on the news (there's no video up, so I can't link to it), the students plan to all vote today. There are only 2 machines available at the courthouse for early voting, so they hope to tie them up all day and into the night. I love stories like this. In the face of an obvious ploy to suppress the vote, these young people stood up for their rights and showed that they will not be cowed. Republicans should be worried, because this is a committed electorate.

For me it's starting to get harder and harder to think of a reason that I should vote for Hillary should she win this nomination.
Let me explain. These feelings have only started recently for me. Before that I felt I could easily support either candidate, now I'm not so sure. I think it really started when Hillary went off the deep end over the "pimped out" comment made by David Schuster a week or so ago. Yes she is a mother but Chelsea is around 27 years old and working on her mom's campaign. Protest is fine but accept the apology and move on. But that's not what she did. She tried to make a federal case out of it to the point that David Schuster might have been fired. The Superdelegates is another issue as she goes after them very aggressively trying to get them to vote for her. Also there is the issue of Florida and Michigan. And now we have this Plagiarism charge by the Clinton camp. This is just more of the politics as usual that we need to move away from. * *WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

I think many of the big time reporters for the major newspapers have way to much time on their hands. They worry about things that are not true or are made up and yes sometimes by them selves.
In past elections they said Al Gore claimed that he invented the internet which wasn't true, at best he simply supported the idea and worked to get it funded. They loved to talk about John Kerry's Flip/Flop but did not find it necessary to look into the Swiftboat Lies that the republicans used. They spent tons of ink on John Edwards hair and very little time on his platform. They made fun of Hillary's laugh. Now it's time they turn their sights on Barack Obama. They are starting to use words like Cult-like to describe the size of the crowd and the enthusiasm that they show. Hell I remember the "I LIKE IKE" button back in the 50's. Hundreds of U.S. Marines have been killed or injured by roadside bombs in Iraq because Marine Corps bureaucrats refused an urgent request in 2005 from battlefield commanders for blast-resistant vehicles, an internal military study concludes. The study, written by a civilian Marine Corps official, Franz J. Gayl and obtained by The Associated Press, accuses the service of "gross mismanagement" that delayed deliveries of the mine-resistant, ambush-protected trucks for more than two years. Cost was a driving factor in the decision to turn down the request for the so-called MRAPs, according to the study. Stateside authorities saw the hulking vehicles, which can cost as much as a $1 million each, as a financial threat to programs aimed at developing lighter vehicles that were years from being fielded. After Defense Secretary Robert Gates declared the MRAP (pronounced M-rap) the Pentagon's No. 1 acquisition priority in May 2007, the trucks began to be shipped to Iraq in large quantities. The failure to send these alternative weapons to Iraq has led to U.S. casualties and the deaths of Iraqi civilians, Gayl has said. Gayl filed for whistle-blower protection in May with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. He said he was threatened with disciplinary action after meeting with congressional staff on Capitol Hill.
