Bill O'Reilly loves to show things out of context. The other night for example he was showing the WAR Protest in Oregon with SPECIAL FOCUS on the group that was doing a US Flag burning and the burning of a dummy in effigy to PAINT ALL of those at the event as whack jobs.
For some reason he didn't mention that of the more than 15,000 protesters only about 30 where a part of that group.
Don't you think that's a bit of a SPIN?
I SAY BOYCOTT CIRCUIT CITY
Yesterday I read that Circuit City was going to lay off about 3,400 store workers. They are OPENLY TARGETING THE BETTER-PAID WORKERS so they can lower their overhead. And being the good sports that they are Circuit City would give their laid-off workers a severance package and GET THIS a chance to reapply for their old jobs at lower pay.
It seems to me that they are targeting the folks that have been there the longest and have worked their way up in the organization. So much for hard work, dedication and loyalty.
I didn't hear what the CEO at Circuit City makes but my guess it's not peanuts.
This is the absolute dumbest idea for down sizing / right sizing a company I have ever seen.
If Circuit City went out of business it wouldn't bother me one bit. I'm personally going to BOYCOTT THE COMPANY and will not give them one more dime.
What a bunch of BULLSHIT.

I'm watching C-SPAN this morning and they are talking about the scandal at the Smithsonian. I'll talk more about this in future Rants as I dig into it.
There are some major problems in how our government is run. These problems are worse than this particular scandal it has to do with the laws that apply to you and me but NOT to congress. This is just more BULLSHIT.

Jada is a sweet dog and my three other dogs enjoy JADA's energy and enthusiasm. She is well behaved and potty trained.

On CNN's The Situation Room yesterday Wolf Blitzer said this "On Monday morning's "Bill Bennett's Morning in America" radio show you said this" "There are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today,"
McCain said the US is "beginning to succeed in Iraq" and early pull out would result in "unmitigated disaster of incredible proportions," adding that "we will see chaos and genocide in the region and we will be back and they will follow us home."
He went on to compare the war in Iraq to the Vietnam war saying, "The only difference is, remember, the Vietnamese didn't want to follow us home, these guys want to follow us home. ... It's not Iraq they're after, my friend, it's us."
Then last night Anderson Cooper had their CNN Newsman in Bagdad respond to what John McCain had said earlier in the day.
He was adamant about how much he disagreed with McCain. It was one of the most honest reports I've heard on the status of the Iraq war. It's worth a listen.

WHAT ARE CARBON OFFSETS?
A carbon offset is an initiative which neutralizes the impact of a carbon emission. For example:
* If you plant trees on land which would otherwise have been tree-less, the trees will absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and store the carbon for the life of the tree. (This is also known as "sequestration".) Some people have reservations about tree-planting as a carbon offset, since as the global temperature increases, there is a risk that the trees will burn down, succumb to pest damage, or cease to grow.
* If you support the development of a wind turbine or solar photovoltaic panel which would not have otherwise been installed, replacing the use of diesel, gas, kerosene or oil, this will reduce the CO2 emissions that would have been released by those fossil fuels. This is what SELF does, when it installs solar PV systems that displace kerosene or diesel.
* It is essential that the activity you are supporting would not otherwise have happened. So if someone is installing a solar hot water system on their roof, for instance, which will reduce the amount of gas they burn to heat water, and you offer to pay for half of it, that is not a valid carbon offset.
* Installing a solar panel on your own roof will reduce your personal emissions, but it will not offset them unless you install more solar PV than you need, so that the surplus can be sold into the grid, reducing the quantity of fossil fuels needed to make electricity.

WHAT DOES 'CARBON NEUTRAL' MEAN?
Becoming 'carbon neutral' means that you have neutralized the effect of your personal greenhouse gas emissions, so that your personal and household activities no longer contribute to the dangers of global warming.
On average, 25% of US and Canadian emissions come from our personal activities. The rest comes from industry, commerce, agriculture, oilfields, trucking, defence, and so on. So far, no-one has developed a way to measure the carbon emissions of all the things we buy (cars, houses, food, stuff), which require energy to manufacture, ship, and package, so those emissions are not included in that 25%.
Global climate change is an enormous problem, that needs our urgent attention. A January 2004 study from a team of conservation biologists based at the University of Leeds, Britain, concluded that by 2050, if temperatures continue to increase as forecast, between 15% and 37% of all land-based animals and plants will become extinct; around one million species. This is on our watch, while we are the ones who are responsible, with the ability to reduce this toll.
In addition to striving to reduce your personal emissions, becoming carbon neutral at the household level is one way to exercise this responsibility.

Does Bill O'Reilly ever do ANY FACT CHECKING? He claims to have a staff of twelve people doing this job for him, yet he is WRONG many, many times. He will not admit that he is wrong. I can not ever remember him saying "I WAS WRONG."
In my Post on 3-21-07 I talked about Bill's name calling and gave some examples of that in his interview with Mayor Anderson. He does that quite often yet he'll say that he doesn't do that even though IT'S ON TAPE. I don't get it it's part of the Video.
Anyway during that segment Bill was getting pissed and I mean really pissed especially when Bill said that there "There has to be a crime in order to Impeach somebody." Bill later went on to say "I think I know more than you do about American History and the Constitution than you do."
Well Bill got some support in his Mail segment that he does at the end of his show. That's them at the top of this Post with Bill's comments in the video below. Check it out and listen to his comments he is such a fool.

Well I've done a little research too and I've found that Mayor Anderson is dead on and Bill doesn't know as much about American History and the Constitution as he claims, who would of thunk it. Here is what I found.

The White House offered to allow members of Congressional committees to hold private interviews with Karl Rove, the president’s senior adviser and deputy chief of staff; Harriet E. Miers, the former White House counsel; and two other officials. It also offered to provide access to e-mail messages and other communications about the dismissals, but not those between White House officials. These discussions also specified that the officials would not testify under oath, that there would be no transcript and that Congress would not subsequently subpoena them.
This explains why we are where we are in IRAQ.

Good Old Tom Delay was on the Today Show today promoting his book NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER. Kind of a Macho title don't you think.
Meredith right off the bat asked him how he squares the title of his book with the fact that he stepped aside. He laugh and gave a really nonsensical answer. Mr. Tough guy that's for sure. What a laugh.

The third and last part and I think the best part he shows just how STUPID he is. Meredith shows a video of Delay on Meet The Press this last weekend where he has harsh words for those that support a date for troops withdrawal from Iraq.
Over half of Americans want the troops out by the fall of 2008. So what does he say about having a date for withdrawal. Well that's aiding and abetting the enemy.
When Meredith presses him he comes back with a snide remark the he didn't know that she spoke for the American people. She said she didn't she was quoting the survey. Good answer.

I greatly enjoy and appreciate "The Today Show". I have watched almost daily for over 20 years and have never written a comment. However, I was very dismayed by the interview of Tom Delay this morning. New book release or not, the man deserves no public favor.
THE BLOW HARD MEETS HIS MATCH
On tonight's Bill O'Reilly Show his first guest was Rocky Anderson (D), Salt Lake City Mayor. I think O'Reilly thought this guy was going to be a push over and he would bully him like he does with so many of his guests. Turns out that the Mayor would have none of it.
He was strong, kept on track and would not let O'Reilly change the subject and Oh did that piss the O-man off. There were several times that O'Reilly did his name calling bit, using words like "foolish", "irresponsible" and "kookie".
He was trying to challenge Anderson about Impeachment saying there needed to be a crime. Anderson attacked immediately claiming that O'Reilly didn't know much about the Constitution which Mr. Bill the history teacher didn't like at all. " I think I know more about constutitutional history", he barked. The fight was on and anyone familiar with O'Reilly's patterns could tell where it was heading.
O'Reilly sputtered with rage. " You don't know what you're talking about." You're kookie" "You're subverting you're country." You're an irresponsible person." You don't know what you're talking about." You're a kook."
Anderson calmly told O'Reilly, " Classic Bill O'Reilly. You invite people on your show and call them names." So Bill changed it to, " Your interpretation is kookie."

Today we have a scandal with the Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and the firing of 8 US Attornies. Again the right brings Clinton into the debate by saying over and over that he FIRED ALL 93 US ATTORNIES. This is TRUE but as usual the right just doesn't like telling the TRUTH or the whole story.
Have you heard them say that their Patron Saint Ronald Reagan did the samething? Have you heard them say that the first George Bush did as well? And have you heard them say ANYTHING about the fact that George W Bush did the same at the start of his first term?
My guess is NO YOU DID NOT. That's because it's THE TRUTH and these folks don't like to tell the truth unless you can drag it out of them.

On Friday last Valerie Plame Wilson testified before congress about her COVERT Status being exposed. It was very interesting and quite revealing because for the FIRST TIME the right wing bozos could not lie there way out of it, but they continued to try.

The conviction of Scooter Libby only intensified conservatives' efforts to further propagate their lie:

Pet owners were worried Saturday that the pet food in their cupboards could be deadly after millions of containers of dog and cat food sold at major retailers across North America were recalled.
Menu Foods -- a major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands -- recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths.
An unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure and about 10 died after eating the affected pet food, the company said in announcing the North American recall.
Proctor & Gamble announced Friday the recall of specific 3 oz., 5.5 oz., 6 oz. and 13.2 oz. canned and 3 oz. and 5.3 oz. foil pouch cat and dog wet food products made by Menu Foods but sold under the Iams and Eukanuba brands. The recalled products bear the code dates of 6339 through 7073 followed by the plant code 4197, P&G said.
Below are lists of specific brands recalled by Menu Foods, in addition to Proctor & Gamble's recall of certain Iams and Eukanuba products. Menu Brands lists the brands on its Web site, www.menufoods.com, and advises consumers to call 1-866-895-2708 for more information.

What's the difference between the Bremerton Tunnel and the Seattle Viaduct? They are both State Highways but Seattle got to vote on the type of Highway they wanted. We in Bremerton didn't get that choice.
Do you remember it went to court after the State suddenly and surprisingly remembered that it was a State Highway and NOT SUBJECT TO A VOTE. The Court agreed with the State.
So if Bremerton's Tunnel is a State Highway Project and NOT subject to a VOTE of the people of Bremerton, why is it that Seattle can?
Do they live in a different State? Or are we just second class citizens over here in Kitsap County.

I was listening to IMUS this morning as I do each morning. He had Andrea Mitchell on. During the discussion Imus asked Andrea why the democrats canceled the debate that FOX NOISE was going to put on. She said it was because of the Blogs and others where unhappy with the joke Roger Ailes had told. That is not true.

On Hannity's America, which is a laugh for a title where he tries to WRAP HIMSELF IN THE FLAG as a GREAT AMERICAN. By the way he HE DID NOT SERVE (like so many of these do good-er highly moral republicans.)
Anyway I digress. I his opening segment he says "In the State of America tonight it is one of the vicious double standards when it comes to conservatives. Well it turns out that FLAG-BOY got HIS VERSION OF THE FACTS WRONG. Bill Maher DID NOT SAY HE WISHED THE VP WAS DEAD, Hannity just made that up. What Bill Maher was talking about as I pointed out on my 3/8/7 Post about Bill O'Reilly who tried to say the same thing.
Just this week he had Bill Maher on to talk about some comments that he (Bill O'Reilly) said Maher had said which he didn't. Bill Maher was sighting what someone had posted in the comments section of The Huffington Post.

Well my computer clocks all worked just fine. They moved ahead one hour as they should have. The only system that didn't work was an old Windows 98 system that I still use for some programing that I need to do using Access from time to time.
I did run into a bit of a problem with my Microsoft Media Center System. The problem had to do with several programs thatI have scheduled on a recuring basis. It took a little effort but I'm up and running.
The Media Center software to me just SUCKS. It's no where close to my TIVO. Microsoft needs to hire some of the folks from TIVO.
I just had to use that headline. The Nevada Democrats cancel debate on FOX NOISE Channel. Citing comments made by the chairman of Fox News about Senator Barack Obama, and under pressure from liberal groups and blogs, Nevada Democrats announced on Friday night that they had decided to cancel a debate in August on Fox Noise. The fact that it took several weeks of outrage and pressure by various liberal groups and blogs is itself outrageous. What the hell where the Democrats thinking when they agreed to this with FOX NOISE. Nevada's Democratic leaders had stood firm against pressure over what had become an unpopular decision, until the Fox chairman, Roger Ailes, made a remark about Mr. Obama on Thursday night at an awards banquet here. In a series of jokes about various public officials as part of a speech, Mr. Ailes said, "It is true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don't know if it's true that President Bush called Musharraf and said, "Why can't we catch this guy? " FOX will do that and other stuff for example they pushed the lie that Obama had attended a radical Muslim school while a child in Indonesia. Why the democrats can't see that FOX NOISE is their enemy is beyond me. Here is what I saw on MyDD
Many Democrats go on Fox Noise, because they don't realize that Democrats don't gain from going on a Republican propaganda outlet. If they are not trashed or embarrassed on the FOX show they appear on they will most likely be on one of the other FOX shows. If I where one of them I would suggest that the just not appear on FOX NOISE until the TRULLY become Fair and Balanced. Anyway the debate is off thank God for that.
An August 25, 1988 Washington Post article about VP George H.W. Bush's refusal to agree to a pre-9/20 debate with Michael Dukakis. Bush adviser Roger Ailes demurs: "I don't know that we need to do more than one. There's no reason to think we'd need more than one. That's a negotiating item." He added: "We're not anxious to debate at this point. We intend to debate, but we're not going to let anybody stampede us into a debate." Now Ailes is the head of FOX NOISE CHANNEL and it seems his views have changed. "Any candidate for high office of either party who believes he can blacklist any news organization is making a terrible mistake about journalists. And any candidate of either party who cannot answer direct, simple, even tough questions from any journalist runs a real risk of losing the voters." What is it with the democrats? Are they interested in giving up the gains they made in the 2006 election? The Democratic party leadership made a deal with FOX NOISE to host one of the Democratic Presidential debates in Nevada. A number of blogs have been supporting the attempt by Nevada Democrats to force the party leadership to overturn the deal. Well, it looks like this grass roots effort has achieved its first success. According to Daily Kos, Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards has decided to withdraw from the debate! Here's the statement released by John Edwards' campaign office: "We will not be participating in the Fox debate. We're going to make lots of appearances in Nevada, including debates. By the end of March, we will have attended three presidential forums in Nevada - and there are already at least three proposed Nevada debates. We're definitely going to debate in Nevada, but we don't see why this needs to be one of them." Edwards' withdrawal is the first in what we hope will be many defections. Man last year I sent him $25.00 for his run for the senate. Had I known he would tie up with FOX NOISE I wouldn't have done so. IT'S PRETTY MUCH CONFIRMED
Anyway, one specific way that bloggers and activists differ from elites in the party is that we notice and take Fox News and the right-wing radio circuit seriously as a part of public discourse. We believe that people watch and listen to these outlets, and believe what these outlets say. We recognize these outlets as affirmative carriers of diseased misinformation, not as market suppliers for a conservative public. Roger Ailes and Fox News aren't just an inevitable part of the news environment; they are adversaries, as much as Mitch McConnell if not more so. They are powerful purveyors of Republican propaganda, but it's both possible and important to damage their capacity to deliver information to the public branded as newsworthy. Even if journalists refuse to distinguish between what they do and what Fox News does, we believe that this distinction is important.
