In putting IMUS AUTISM Rant (10/10) together the other day I used some of the words from www.imusblog.com. I normally use blockquotes to indicate that I'm quoting someone else. I didn't do that this time and so it appears like these were my original words, when in fact only about a third are mine.
I want to apologize to Roy (don't know his last name) for not giving him credit or at least a link to his Blog IMUSBLOG which I have corrected below.

LOOSE ENDS
This will be my last actual post for a few weeks. As I explain under "You've Got To Have Heart" below I'll be in Harrison Hospital for Heart Valve replacement surgery. The surgery is about 4-5 hours the recovery is from 6 to 8 weeks depending on how well it goes.
As for my BLOG there is a neat feature that allows you to schedule your rants in advance. I've used that feature in the past to do the weekend stuff (Sat and Sun). It works very well and so I've setup the next 3 and half weeks.
Harrison offers WiFi in almost all of their rooms. The ICU is an exception and that's where I'll be after surgery on Monday and maybe a day or two after that. But at some point I hope to send a Rant or two from the Hospital.
Stay tuned and don't forget to VOTE!!!
Oh yea, one last thing I've included a picture of the hospital room I'll be staying in.

I HAVE A QUESTION
Estate Tax Questions
Reminder: Most relatively simple estates (cash, publicly-traded securities, small amounts of other easily-valued assets, and no special deductions or elections, or jointly-held property) with a total value under $1,000,000 do not require the filing of an estate tax return. The amount was $1,500,000 in 2004 and 2005. For 2006 through 2008, the amount is raised to $2,000,000.
Q: What is the Estate Tax?
The Estate Tax is a tax on your right to transfer property at your death. It consists of an accounting of everything you own or have certain interests in at the date of death (Refer to Form 706). The fair market value of these items is used, not necessarily what you paid for them or what their values were when you acquired them. The total of all of these items is your "Gross Estate." The includible property may consist of Cash and Securities, Real Estate, Insurance, Trusts, Annuities, Business interests and other assets.
So my question to Mike McGavick is: Since the DEATH TAX as you call it is OFFICIALLY defined by the IRS as the ESTATE TAX why do you think it's necessary to change it's OFFICIAL NAME.
JUST WONDERING.

YOU GOTTA HAVE HEART
MONDAY IS THE DAY
Yesterday we went to Harrison Medical Center for a Pre-Admission appointment. They basically do all the paper work like Insurance, Health Directive and Power of Attorney documents, review all the meds that I currently take review my health history.
They later took some blood, you just can't go to a hospital without them wanting some blood (or money ha, ha ). They weighed me (I was down 1 pound this week . . . yippee). Checked my height gave me an EKG and a chest X-ray.
I signed some consent forms and then was given some instruction on things like getting up out of a chair and how to get into bed. They give you a pillow in the shape of a heart that you hold up to your chest and cross your arms to hold it in place.
As an example when you are sitting in a chair you use your butt to move forward in the chair vs. using your arms (your not supposed to use your arms to get up). Once you are at the edge of the chair with the Heart Pillow on your chest your are to rock back and forth three times and then stand up using you legs. Getting in and out of bed is the same thing, using the pillow as I described.
I have a breathing apparatus that I have to practice my breathing to help keep my lungs clear.
They then took us into the ICU unit where we met some of the folks that will be taking care of me starting Monday.
Well I've got a lot of work to do over the next 6 to 8 weeks or so. I'll just be glad to get home and be with my dogs and when I do get home I'm going to give them a big old Bar-B-Que.
Talk to you in a week or so. Keep me in your prayers. Thanks.

WHAT IS THE TRUTH
These numbers seem high but on the other hand the 30,000 that Bush used in his Press Conference a few weeks ago seems really low. There is another another set of numberss that The McLaughlin Group (PBS) uses almost weekly. It too is by the John Hopkins group but I'm not sure it's the same group as the one the did this study.
A team of American and Iraqi public health researchers has estimated that 600,000 civilians have died in violence across Iraq since the 2003 American invasion, the highest estimate ever for the toll of the war here.
The figure breaks down to about 15,000 violent deaths a month, a number that is quadruple the one for July given by Iraqi government hospitals and the morgue in Baghdad and published last month in a United Nations report in Iraq. That month was the highest for Iraqi civilian deaths since the American invasion.
But it is an estimate and not a precise count, and researchers acknowledged a margin of error that ranged from 426,369 to 793,663 deaths.
The new study is more representative, its researchers said, and the sampling is broader: it surveyed 1,849 Iraqi families in 47 different neighborhoods across Iraq. The selection of geographical areas in 18 regions across Iraq was based on population size, not on the level of violence, they said.
As I said the correct number is between 1 and 600,000 and what that number is is anyones guess. I just know that 1 to 600,000 to high.
THE NET AT RISKDON'T FORGET MEET THE PRESS DEBATE THIS SUNDAY
The future of the Internet is up for grabs. Last year, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) effectively eliminated net neutrality rules, which ensured that every content creator on the Internet-from big-time media concerns to backroom bloggers-had equal opportunity to make their voice heard. Now, large and powerful corporations are lobbying Washington to turn the World Wide Web into what critics call a "toll road," threatening the equitability that has come to define global democracy's newest forum. Yet the public knows little about what's happening behind closed doors on Capitol Hill.
"The genius of the Internet was that it made the First Amendment a living document again for millions of Americans," says Robert McChesney, a media scholar and activist and co-author of OUR MEDIA, NOT THEIRS. "The decisions that we're going be making ... are probably going to set our entire communication system, and, really, our entire society, on a course that it won't be able to change for generations."
Check out the list to see who is riding the fence or undecided and contact them to support NET Neutrality.

CARNATION MILK
A little old lady from Wisconsin had worked in and around her family dairy farm since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation.
When canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores back in the 1940's, she read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan. The producers wanted a rhyme beginning with "Carnation Milk is best of all...."
She thought to herself, I know all about milk and dairy farms. I can do this!
She sent in her entry, and a bout a week later, a black limo drove up in front of her house. A man got out and said, "Carnation LOVED your entry so much, we are here to award you $1000, even though we will not be able to use it."

ONE STEP CLOSER
Today I go to Harrison Medical Center to go through their Pre-admission Program. I need to bring my meds, a copy of my Health Care Directive (I'm not going to let Congress make my decissions when it comes to my health care.) and a Power of Attorney. I'll be signing some consent forms. They'll do some tests, and give us a tour of the facility. It'll take about two hours.
Vinny and Sal are out in the woods hunting when suddenly Sal grabs his chest and falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing; his eyes are rolled back in his head. Vinny whips out his cell phone and calls 911.He gasps to the operator, "I think Sal is dead! What should I do?" The operator, in a calm soothing voice says, "Just take it easy and follow my instructions. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence...and then a gun shot is heard. Vinny's voice comes back on the line, "Okay... now what?"
The Republicans are very good at creating cute little catch phrases like "CUT AND RUN", "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED", "THE DEATH TAX", "PRIVATE ACCOUNTS" and others. But the one I like the best is this BULLSHIT about the democrates have "NO PLAN FOR IRAQ" to which I say --- yea like THEIR PLAN IS WORKING REALLY WELL.
I got this from This Weeks Funnies.

I saw the below letter to the editor in yesterdays Kitsap Sun and it talks about something that I've thought about for a long time. The other thing I think about is being able to put yourself in some one else's shoes. It's one thing to want other people to act as you would like it's quite another if it's you.
This letter talks about taking responsibility by the Pro-Lifers, kinda like putting your money where you mouth is. Well I take it one step further and ask if it was them under the same circumstance would that change your mind. I think in many cases it would. It's always easier to see the other side of an issue if you are involved. Read on. Abortion: 'Pro-Birth' People Aren't Willing to Help As I follow the recent Letters to the Editor blog entries, I again find the following concepts on abortion and the support for life formulating in my mind. The basic concept is that there are not just pro-life and pro-choice people. A number of the those who claim to be pro-life really fall into a third group, whom I call "pro-birth." A pro-birth person's only concern is the fetus and forcing the mother to carry it to term, regardless of the situation into which it will be born. That ends their responsibility. True pro-life people are the ones who have a concern for the life of the fetus, the life of the baby and the life of the human being it will become. These are the people willing to adopt and care for babies damaged both physically and mentally by drug addiction and alcohol abuse, as well as emotionally by never having been wanted from conception by a mother forced to carry them. So when I meet someone who claims to be pro-life, I ask them one simple question: How many of these unwanted, damaged babies have you adopted or taken into your life? If the answer is one or more, I stand in awe and respect. If none, then I dismiss them as pro-birth, not pro-life.
John McCain is picking up the BUSH line (wonder if he's running for something)? He is saying that it's Clinton's fault that North Korea now has the bomb. But let's review the facts one more time. "Failure" = 1994-2002 -- Era of Clinton 'Agreed Framework': No plutonium production. All existing plutonium under international inspection. NO BOMB. "Success" = 2002-2006 -- Bush Policy Era: Active plutonium production. No international inspections of plutonium stocks. Nuclear warhead detonated. Face it. They ditched an imperfect but working policy. They replaced it with nothing. Now North Korea is a nuclear state. Facts hurt. So do nukes. I wonder if there is some Psychological thing going on with Bush, Clinton, Saddam and Bush's father. In the case of Clinton (who beat Bush senior) there is resentment about that so when Bush came into office he wanted to cancel all things Clinton. When it comes to Saddam he tried to kill Bush senior, we went to war in Iraq with bad intelligence. You know the rest. Is that why the TALKING POINTS are frequently set to BLAME CLINTON FIRST.
Hi All, As I get closer to the day (10/16) for my Heart Valve replacement I can honestly tell you I'm scared. I think that's why I like to joke about stuff and sometimes it's not at the politically correct time. Like when I found out that they would replace my heart valve with one from a pig and I said does that mean I'll be oink-oinking after the operation? Well maybe it's not that funny. But honestly it's easier to laugh than it is to cry and say poor me. I think that's why I love Jon Stewart so much because in his comedy there is surly a lot of truth. You know I've received some questions on why I don't go to Seattle to have this operation. There are many more Doctors over there than here in Bremerton and I can't deny that. There are many more Hospitals in Seattle as well, also true. As I said at the start I'm scared but I often think about Buz as the day approaches and I remember him saying that Sunday before his operation that he was looking forward to his operation. I guess I feel that why to but you know I don't have the problems he had going in so I feel good about having the operations here in Bremerton. My Cardiologist Dr Lee whom I've been with since I had my first heart attack back in the late 80's was one of the doctors pushing for a Heart Center at Harrison. He talked to us a little about it's history. He said they studied the experience of other hospitals to find their lessons learned and used that as a bases to get this one off the ground a few years ago. By the way the doctors here come from UW and are affiliated with the University still. I feel good about them. So I guess what I'm saying is that there is no guarantee and sometimes you have to go with your gut. I want to thank all of you for caring about me and wanting only the best for me. Just remember I'm the one leading THAT parade. Talk to you Tuesday or maybe Wednesday next week. Now about the up coming election . . . read my BLOG I'm going to try and do a rant or two from the operating table. Mick
A man owned a small ranch. The Department of Labor claimed he was not paying his help proper wages.
The DOL sent an agent out to interview him. "I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them" demanded the DOL agent. "Well," replied the rancher, "There's my ranch hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $600 a week, plus free room and board. The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $500 per week, plus free room and board... "Then there's the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes $10 per week, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night." "That's the guy I want to talk to -- the half-wit," says the agent.
During his show the other day Imus commented more on the Combating Autism Act. He was pissed. He said a vote for Texas Governor Rick Perry is a vote for Joe Barton, a Perry buddy. If you vote for Rick Perry you are voting against children with Autism. Imus played a clip from ABC/This Week with Patricia Heaton talking about Joe Barton. Like IMUS she wants Barton to do his job. Then IMUS talked about the fact that Barton is calling Imus' bosses trying to get him to shut-up. Instead of appearing on the show to debate the issue, Barton wants to stifle debate. What are the republicans scared of? Why won't the republican leadership bring the Autism Act up for a vote? Have the pharmaceuticals bought the republican vote? If Joe Barton and the House republicans win this battle there is truly something wrong with the country. Watch this video! IMUS is really pissed at this guy and you can't blaime him. Get the damn bill on the floor and vote on it. PERIOD. This is so priceless, and so easy to see happening, customer service being what it is today. Be sure & cancel your credit cards before you die. A lady died this past January, and Citibank billed her for February & March for their annual service charges on her credit card, and then added late fees & interest on the monthly charge. The balance had been $0.00, now it's somewhere around $60.00. A family member placed a call to Citibank: Family Member: "I'm calling to tell you that she died in January." Citibank: "The account was never closed and the late fees & charges still apply." Family Member: "Maybe you should turn it over to collections." Citibank: "Since it is two months past due, it already has been." Family Member: "So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?" Citibank: "Either report her account to the frauds division or report her to the credit bureau; maybe both!" Family Member: "Do you think God will be mad at her?" Citibank: "Excuse me?" Family Member: "Did you just get what I was telling you . . . the part about her being dead?" Citibank: "Sir, you'll have to speak to my supervisor" Supervisor gets on the phone. Family Member: "I'm calling to tell you, she died in January." Citibank: "The account was never closed and the late fees & charges still apply." Family Member: "You mean you want to collect from her estate?" Citibank: (Stammer) "Are you her lawyer?" Family Member: "No, I'm her great nephew." (Lawyer info given) Citibank: "Could you fax us a certificate of death?" Family Member: "Sure." (the fax number is given) After they get the fax ... Citibank: "Our system just isn't setup for death. I don't know what more I can do to help." Family Member: "Well, if you figure it out, great! If not, you could just keep billing her. I don't think she will care." Citibank: "Well, the late fees & charges do still apply." Family Member: "Would you like her new billing address?" Citibank: "That might help." Family Member: "Odessa Memorial Cemetery, Highway 129, Plot Number 69." Citibank: "Sir, that's a cemetery!" Family Member: "What do you do with dead people on your planet?"
There was a Norwegian Farmer who loved his wife so much... he almost told her.
I really like Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Sure I know for me he's speaking to the choir, but I also feel he is the ONLY ONE on TV that speaks for me. FOXNEWS doesn't speak for me with their FAIR and UNBALANCED view. The other reporters/commentators/anchors don't seem to ask the hard questions of this administration and tend to hide their bias better than the FOX folks. I've captured each of Keiths SPECIAL COMMENTS so if you want to see the others go to my posts on 9/12, 9/22, or 9/27
By Dan Froomkin - Special to washingtonpost.com The traditional media has been slow to come to grips with the American public's distrust and dislike of President Bush -- sentiments clearly reflected in opinion polls dating back well over a year. Almost alone among the network newscasters, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann is channeling that sensibility. Channeling it -- and amplifying it. In fact, the increasingly shrill Olbermann is fast becoming the Howard Beale of the anti-Bush era: He's mad as hell, and he's not going to take it anymore. His newscast-ending "special comment" yesterday was a doozy. At issue: The sorts of rhetorical excesses in Bush's campaign speeches recently handled (with kid gloves) by such mainstream journalists as McClatchy's Ron Hutcheson and The Washington Post's Peter Baker -- and on which I've been harping for ages, most recently in my Bush's Imaginary Foes column. What apparently set off Olbermann in particular was when Bush recently described a vote against his warrantless wiretapping plan as being the same as saying "we don't think we ought to be listening to the conversations of terrorists" -- and when Bush said of the Democratic leadership: "It sounds like they think the best way to protect the American people is -- wait until we're attacked again." Here's Olbermann yesterday: "The president doesn't just hear what he wants. He hears things that only he can hear. "It defies belief that this president and his administration could continue to find new unexplored political gutters into which they could wallow. Yet they do. "It is startling enough that such things could be said out loud by any president of this nation. Rhetorically, it is about an inch short of Mr. Bush accusing Democratic leaders, Democrats, the majority of Americans who disagree with his policies, of treason. . . . "No Democrat, sir, has ever said anything approaching the suggestion that the best means of self-defense is to 'wait until we're attacked again.' "No critic, no commentator, no reluctant Republican in the Senate has ever said anything that any responsible person could even have exaggerated into the slander you spoke in Nevada on Monday night, nor the slander you spoke in California on Tuesday, nor the slander you spoke in Arizona on Wednesday . . . nor whatever is next. . . . "But tonight the stark question we must face is -- why? "Why has the ferocity of your venom against the Democrats now exceeded the ferocity of your venom against the terrorists? "Why have you chosen to go down in history as the president who made things up?" This is Keith's third Special Comment. <----( watch the video here ) You know I think as others did a long time ago that this was a really dumb idea. I remember John Murtha months ago suggesting we withdraw our troops over the horizon. John Kerry said about the same. Biden says he wants to divide the country into 3. Several others have suggested similar plans. So now comes a republican, the first of what I think will be many. Echoing the sentiments of several leading Democrats on his committee, Warner said he believes the United States may have to reevaluate its approach in Iraq if the situation does not improve dramatically over the next several months. The Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday offered a stark assessment of the situation in Iraq after a trip there this week, saying that parts of the country have taken "steps backwards" and that the United States is at risk of losing the campaign to control an increasingly violent Baghdad. "I assure you, in two or three months, if this thing hasn't come to fruition and if this level of violence is not under control and this government able to function, I think it's a responsibility of our government internally to determine: Is there a change of course that we should take?" Warner said. "And I wouldn't take off the table any option at this time." Well some people are slow learners but at least they learn, while others will stay the course and charge right ahead. Isn't that what happened in The Charge of The Light Brigade. I watched the Debate on Meet The Press. This week it was the Missouri Senate race between Sen. Jim Talent (R) and State Auditor Claire McMaskill (D). I think McCaskill won. She won it with clear answers. I think she has the IRAQ WAR vs. TERRORISTS debate nailed. Listen to this answer. It's the only one that makes sense to me. This gal won the debate on MTP she did a great job of answering the questions. <----( watch the video here )
Pollitically speaking, I'm for the two party system: one on Friday and one on Saturday night.
All these Talking Heads on TV and Talk Radio keep saying the dems have no plan [ as thought the republicans do ] and I can think of at least 3-4 that the dems have suggested. You may not like any of them but for God's sake give them credit for having them. It gets tiring hearing these guys say the same thing over and over as they like to do. Last night I was doing some channel surfing and landed on Hannity and Colmes. Hannity was going crazy because some dem did the same thing BACK in 1983. I guess he was trying to say if they did it we should be able to do it. And old man Dennis Hastert was out blaming ABC News, George Soros, the democrats and are you ready . . . Bill Clinton. Right now Rick Santorum is on IMUS talking about this Foley thing and he's blaming the media too saying if they knew this garbage months ago and didn't say anything they need to be held responsible. Well there is a difference between the media and the leadership. The media didn't know the story they were trying to dig up the facts, while the leadership covered it up and tried to sweep it under the rug. Leaders of the House ethics committee on Thursday promised a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding former Representative Mark Foley's electronic messages to Congressional pages and approved nearly four dozen subpoenas for an inquiry they said would take "weeks, not months." [ that means AFTER THE ELECTION ] "The American people, and especially the parents of all current and former pages, are entitled to know how this situation was handled, and we are determined to answer their questions," said Representative Doc Hastings, Republican of Washington, who is chairman of the panel. The committee, which had been paralyzed by partisan conflict until recently, no longer has jurisdiction over Mr. Foley, who resigned from Congress last Friday. [ isn't this like having the fox guard the hen house. ] "Panel Vows Hard Look at House Page Scandal" [ you can take that to the bank especially with Washington States own Doc Hastings leading the pack. HA! ]
As I said earlier all the republicans have their TALKING POINTS in hand. But IMUS wasn't going to let J.D. Hayworth get away with the BLAME GAME. This is IMUS at his best. <----( watch the video here )
A WAR OF CHOICE. It's hard for me to believe that there would be one person in the U.S. today that felt this war is still worth fight. Think about this. Say we won this war (what ever winning means to us). Everything is fine until the next election. What I fear is that we would end up with a situation that exists in Lebanon. Now remember we went to war to bring democracy to Iraq. So my fear is what do we do if in that next election they elect leadership that doesn't agree with the U.S. What the HELL was this war all about. Will our troops have died for nothing? This is how I see the MEET THE PRESS debates so far. The winner (in my opinion) will be the first entry if it's a draw you will see that in the first position.

A little boy is trick-or-treating on Halloween dressed as a pirate. He walks up to a house and the little old lady opens the door and says: "My, what a cute pirate, but where are your buccaneers?" The boy replied: "Under my bucking hat."
OK, so today is the start of my count down to November 7th and my mini war against Bill O'Reilly. Today we start with FEAR!!! That's what the republicans are trying to use on the American people. Buy in the words of FDR "The only thing we have to FEAR is FEAR it self" That was true then and it's just as true now. I found this in a newsletter I receive from MotherJones in my email each week and it talks about Campaign 2006: The Issues, the Stakes, the Prospects. The choices are stark, the consequences are momentous. As a strategy the republicans are using the "SCARE THE HELL OUT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE". You just need to read this and remember the words of FDR.

When I found out that Sean Hannity was selected to be a the spokesman for General Motors it made me mad as hell. This guy is the last person they should want to try and sell their cars. First of all he will turn off at least half the country and when your already loosening money on the sale of your cars you don't need that. Secondly he has no class. And finally FOXNEWS is in declaim. Here is what I said: It seems to me you could not have chosen a more divisive spokesman for General Motors than Sean Hannity. Sure I will give you that he attracts a wide following from his right wing zealots, but that is not what you want or need to win back your position as the great company you once were. I don't know who advised you that this was a good idea but you need to rethink that and demand they give your money back. I'm no expert but I can tell you that when I listen to an ad I don't want some right wing whack job that says "BECAUSE I'M AGAINST THE WAR IN IRAQ" I'm un-American,. Or because I don't have a bumper sticker on my car that some how means I don't "SUPPORT THE TROOPS". It seems to me you could find someone that could promote your cars and the GM name without turning have the off. I had been thinking about buying a new GM car myself this year but when I learned that you decided to make Sean Hannity your spokesman I've changed my mind. Ford or maybe Toyota will do just fine. I'm sure that there are plenty of folks like me that feel the same way. They don't want to be called names and then be expect to buy a car from that spokesman.
Standing in for Keith is Amy Robach. She sure is a lot easier on the eyes then good old Keith.
The republican ATTACK MACHINE goes to work. We should draft these folks and send them off to fight in Iraq. I'm sure they could beat the terrorist at their own game. The talking points. <----( watch the video here )
Even as the Bush administration urges Americans to stay the course in Iraq, Republicans in Congress have put down a quiet marker in the apparent hope that V-I Day might be only months away. Tucked away in fine print in the military spending bill for this past year was a lump sum of $20 million to pay for a celebration in the nation's capital "for commemoration of success" in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not surprisingly, the money was not spent. A paragraph written into spending legislation by the Senate and House allows the $20 million to be rolled over into 2007. Do you suppose that this is the kind of thing that we will all be able to see with that new ENTITLEMENTS Database that was just approved.
The Bush administration keeps say the economy is GREAT and now that gas prices are going down they claim it's even better. But just look a little deeper. The burden of housing costs in nearly every part of the country grew sharply from 2000 to 2005, according to new Census Bureau data being made public today. The numbers vividly illustrate the impact, often distributed unevenly, of the crushing combination of escalating real estate prices and largely stagnant incomes.
In my post yesterday I point out that Bill O'reilly said "the Factor will focus on what We The People should do." Bill O is worried that the dems will take over congress. Well so am I. But in my case I want them to. Having said that starting tomorrow I'm starting a new series addressing the issues as I see them. Stay tuned.

For the last couple of days IMUS has been getting on Rep Joe Barton, (R) Texas. In 2004, he was selected by his colleagues to be the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy & Commerce. The Energy & Commerce Committee has arguably the broadest non tax-oriented jurisdiction of any congressional committee, with principal House responsibility over matters relating to commerce, public health and marketplace interests. IMUS and his wife and others have been fighting to get a bill on Autism that the senate has passed through the House. Barton said he would take care of it. Well as you know the congress is now in recess and the bill died. IMUS is crying foul and is not mixing words. Watch this short video. IMUS give Rep Barton hell. <----( watch the video here )
In his Talking Points commentary at the start of last nights show Bill O'Reilly said "The Republican party is reeling on Bob Woodword's book and Mark Foley's email scandal." Bill goes on to say Woodword says the Bush strategy is flawed and he says the mainstream media is running hard with that. He said Foley's betrayal of his position is also hurting and that the FBI should investigate. Some GOP leaders reportedly knew of Foley's indiscretions. Any cover up is unacceptable and they should resign. [Except for that little jab at the mainstream media Bill has it right so far.] Then he went on to talk about the dems talking over congress and how in his mind it's just going to be a big mess. [You know how much they hate America. . . right.] So in wrapping it up Bill O'Reilly says "Between now and Election Day the Factor will focus on what We The People should do. [There you go Billy Boy showing YOUR RIGHT WING BIAS again]
They are trying to link this to gays. . . that's' wrong and people like Hannity, Newt Gingrich and other Talking heads know it but they use that well tried GOP spin that if you say it Load enough, Often enough it will become true. They are going back in history to site other cases when bad things happened as though that makes it ok now. Hey how about that guy back in 1886 when what's his name did. . . well you get the idea. Clinton is a favorite example. It's all Clinton's fault. These guys won't ever give it up. Funny how they never bring up Gewt. Oh not to condone it but you do know that the Clinton thing was between CONSENTING ADULTS right. You know that right. Why has old what's his face Majority Leader John Boehner been missing in action. Guess he's been on one of his Lobbying trips to play golf. What's the deal with not having the guts to resign.

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog. 11. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table . 12. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after 13. I will not throw up in the car. 14. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt. 15. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch when we have company. 16. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
This is a new feature. It's the Countdown to the Election on November 7th.
I saw this in the paper over the weekend.
In response to N. C. S. letter on 9/30/6 I sent the paper the following. To suggest that the Democrats are weak or for that matter the Republicans are strong on national security because the NIE report was leaked is a silly argument and just nonsense. Asking "Are we safer after the Iraq invasion?" is nothing more than a slogan without meaning, a talking point that doesn't address the real question. WHY? Why are we even in Iraq. Mr. Sim goes on to list seven incidents that have occurred since 1983. The problem is there were hundreds if not thousands of attacks during this time period. Including the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. Again Mr. Sims goes delusional on us by suggesting that "incidents like this are no longer happening to Americans." Hello!!! There were Americans on the subway bombing in London. There are still attacks in this country, go to the National Counterterrorism Center on the web and see for yourself. The "only ones killed" is a thoughtless remark which implies our troops are expendable. Shame on you. As I said the real question is WHY. Why are we in Iraq. Why? ? ? And better question now is WHY ARE WE STILL IN Iraq? And to answer his question "NO WE ARE NOT SAFER." We have simply decide to move on.
Well a new book by Bob Woodword comes out today called State Of Denial, an aptly named book I'd say. My problem is that much of what I know that is contained in this book I've felt for a long time, and sometimes saying so here on my Blog. One example is my comparison of Iraq to Viet Nam. (I'll get some dates of my post's on a day or two). My comparison was never so much about the type of war we were fighting but rather the LIES we were being told. I think that is the thrust of this book. We were laid to about this war. From the reason we needed to go to war to what we are doing to get out. Below are some highlights from the New York Times about this new book.
Now he says the alcohol made him do it. I think it's fun when these guys get into trouble the run to REHAB. I of course am talking about the scum-bag
Mark Foley, representative from Florida. What is almost as bad is that Top House Republicans knew for months about e-mail traffic between Representative Mark Foley and a former teenage page, but kept the matter secret and allowed Mr. Foley to remain head of a Congressional caucus on children's issues, Republican lawmakers said
Saturday.
Well they knew there was a problem but did nothing about it. They sure as HELL didn't feel that way about President Clinton, and that was between two CONSENTING adults. Think about that. Some of these e-mails are pretty suggestive. You can go here and see for yourself. Go to ABC News for more info. <----( click here to go to the site ) I'm anxious to see what Bill O'Reilly has to say about this on tonight's show. . . he's such a "NON-PARTISAN", completely middle of the road kind of guy. He's also an advocate to protect the children so I'm sure it'll be the lead story on tonight's program.
Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog. 6. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff. 7. My head does not belong in the refrigerator. 8. I will not bite the officer' s hand when he reaches in for Mom's driver's license and registration. 9. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet. 10. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello".

COUNTDOWN TO NOVEMBER 7th
No wonder the White House and Congressional Republicans are so desperate
and have gone on the offensive: they read the August opinion polls, which
demonstrated that the American people had finally come to believe that Mr.
Bush's war of choice -- which has killed nearly 2,700 Americans, wounded
and maimed many more, cost our national treasury over $420 billion, killed or
wounded tens of thousands of Iraqis, and seems to degenerate each day -
might just be a mistake, and one to be corrected at the voting booth.
In fact, in the mid-August polls, just prior to the Bush administration's spin
offensive, 53 percent of Americans were convinced that "going to war was a
mistake," 62 percent believed that "events were going badly in Iraq," and 58
percent "disapproved of [Bush's] handling of the economy."
Republicans will do almost anything to keep control of Congress. And no
wonder. As long as they hold a thin majority in the House, they have the
absolute power of chairing all committees, power they've used to freeze out
the Democrats. The Republican chairs hire staff, set legislative priorities,
issue subpoenas, decide on the issues, and determine when to hold
investigations, press conferences, and hearings. The White House wants to
keep it that way. Hoekstra, for example, would no more undertake a serious
investigation of the White House's manipulation of flawed intelligence since
the run-up to the Iraq war than he would turn down a fat corporate campaign
contribution.

That, in a nutshell, is the Republicans' fall congressional campaign strategy.
If you doubt it, consider the following: George W. Bush launched a
propaganda offensive in the run-up to the 9/11 anniversary with a speech in
which he called Islamic terrorists "successors to fascists, to Nazis, to
communists and other totalitarians of the 20th century"; Donald Rumsfeld in
turn likened administration critics [read Democrats] to those who appeased
Nazi Germany in the 1930s; Dick Cheney, appearing on Meet the Press,
accused opponents of the war of inviting more violence; Rep. Peter Hoekstra,
a Michigan Republican and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee in
August released a hyped report on the supposedly grave threat to US
national security posed by Iran-one strikingly similar to the hyped
intelligence documents the administration used to build its case for war in
Iraq.

COUNT DOWN TO THE ELECTION
WAR ON TERROR: Are We Safer?
The latest leak on the National Intelligence Estimates is an ongoing effort
by the Democrats and the media to raise doubts about the Republicans as
the more trustworthy in national security where Democrats are weak.
The bottom line in this latest leak is the question, "Are we safer after the
Iraq invasion?"
Prior to the invasion, the terrorists have bombed:
The Khobar Towers, killing 19 U.S. airmen.
The barracks in Beruit, killing 242 U.S. Marines.
The USS Cole, killing 17 US seamen.
The U.S. embassy in Tanzania, killing 257.
The U.S. embassy in Kenya, killing 271.
The World Center Twin Towers, killing almost 3,000.
The Pentagon, killing 187 U.S. military and civilian personnel.
Emboldened by their success and our non-response, the next logical phase of
bombing attacks will be in the major cities across America. Today, incidents
like these are no longer happening to Americans. The only ones killed are our
brave men and women who fight in Iraq so that we don't have to fight them
over here and live.
So, are we any safer today?
N. C. S., BREMERTON
IS THIS OLD NEWS?
The White House ignored an urgent warning in September 2003 from a top
Iraq adviser who said that thousands of additional American troops were
desperately needed.
The warning is described in a new book by Bob Woodward "State of Denial."
As late as November 2003, Mr. Bush is quoted as saying of the situation
in Iraq: "I don't want anyone in the cabinet to say it is an insurgency.
I don't think we are there yet."
The American commander for the Middle East, Gen. John P. Abizaid, is
reported to have told visitors to his headquarters in Qatar in the fall of
2005 that "Rumsfeld doesn't have any credibility anymore" to make a
public case for the American strategy for victory in Iraq.
It says that Mr. Blackwill and L. Paul Bremer III, then the top American
official in Iraq, later briefed Ms. Rice and Stephen J. Hadley, her deputy,
about the pressing need for more troops during a secure teleconference
from Iraq. It says the White House did nothing in response.
Vice President Cheney is described as a man so determined to find
proof that his claim about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was
accurate that, in the summer of 2003, his aides were calling the chief
weapons inspector, David Kay, with specific satellite coordinates as
the sites of possible caches. None resulted in any finds.
The fruitless search for unconventional weapons caused tension
between Vice President Cheney's office, the C.I.A. and officials in
Iraq. Mr. Woodward wrote that Mr. Kay, the chief weapons inspector
in Iraq, e-mailed top C.I.A. officials directly in the summer of 2003
with his most important early findings.
Mr. Tenet, the man who once told Mr. Bush that it was a "slam-dunk"
that weapons of mass destruction existed in Iraq, apparently did
not share his qualms about invading Iraq directly with Mr. Bush,
according to Mr. Woodward's account.
As its title indicates, "State of Denial" follows a very different
storyline, of an administration that seemed to have only a foggy
notion that early military success in Iraq had given way to
resentment of the occupiers.
YEA SURE ALCOHOL MADE HIM DO IT.
But news reports about the exchanges led to the disclosure of e-mail
correspondence with other former pages in which the discussions
became more and more sexually explicit. Shortly after he was
confronted by ABC News on Friday about the subject, Mr. Foley,
who represented a south Florida district, resigned from the House.
The revelations set off a political upheaval, with Democrats and some
Republicans calling for a full investigation of Mr. Foley's conduct and
whether House leaders did enough to look into it. Members of the
Republican leadership sought Saturday to detail how they had
handled the case in an effort to defuse the situation, even as it was
emerging as an issue in Congressional races.
Among those who became aware earlier this year of the fall 2005
communications between Mr. Foley and the 16-year-old page,
who worked for Representative Rodney Alexander, Republican
of Louisiana, were Representative John A. Boehner, the majority
leader, and Representative Thomas M. Reynolds of New York,
chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Mr. Reynolds said in a statement Saturday that he had also
personally raised the issue with Speaker J. Dennis Hastert.
