THE NEVER ENDING STORY
GOD HAS THANKFULLY INTERVENED God has this day put an end to one part of the story of Terri Schiavo, but it ain't over till it's over and with the hate between these two families I don't think the fat lady will ever sing. As I said yesterday I think the Schindler's let this thing get out of control to the point of be exploitive. Yet we have heard almost silence from Michael's side. Thus today's Dose talks in defense of Michael. SPEAKING IN DEFENSE OF MICHAEL Here is what Terri's sister has said on TV about what happened to Terri.SUZANNE VITADAMO, Terri's sister has said: there was almost $1 million that he would have inherited back then... we still don't know what happened to Terri the night she collapsed, and there has surfaced evidence, that something may have happened that was very ugly the night that she collapsed between her and Michael... there was a bone scan done 52 weeks after she collapsed that revealed Terri had several unexplained broken bones...
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND It was Michael that called 911. Why would he HALF choke his wife and then call 911. He couldn't be sure that she wouldn't come out of it and point a finger at him. Was he that stupid. Why didn't the Medics, or the Doctors report any burses or signs of trauma. So to believe that Michael caused Terri's collapse by beating her is to believe that Michael initiated a lawsuit against someone else for causing her collapse, opening the whole matter to serious inquiry and greatly increasing the risk that someone would discover his role. From all that I've read no one -- not the paramedics, doctors, nurses, family members, friends, or anyone else -- who saw Terri in the hours, weeks, and months after her collapse ever suggested at the time that Terri had been beaten or strangled. I did hear one report that said these accusations really got started on Talk Radio in just the past couple weeks or months. I can't confirm that though. JUST A THOUGHT How could men over 200 years ago have been so smart as to write a Constitution and today all these years later with such tremendous technology advances and the advantage of history can't seem to get it right, oh yea it's called congress. ONE FINAL THOUGHT It continues to amaze me that people that TALK about their religious belief's cannot seem to demonstrate it in a practical, positive way.

ARE THEY OUT OF STEP
SOME THINGS NEED TO STAY PRIVATE
With all the craziness that is going on in Florida it's time for a spring break. I don't take the pain that must be going on in these families lightly, but with the circus that is going on you just ask yourself what is that all about.
It's hard to believe that money isn't part of the that motivation when you read that the Schindler's have now started selling their mailing list. What should be a very private matter has become a public spectacle.
Cable TV shows broadcast live from in front of the Hospice. The Talking Heads on the cable networks put out LIES and BULLSHIT as thought it were the truth. To me they HIDE behind the fact that they call themselves "COMMANTATORS" as opposed to journalists. I guess that means they are completely free to state LIES and BULLSHIT by not knowing the facts or by misstating them.
To me Michael Schiavo and his attorney have at least stayed well in the background. I don"t think I've seen Michael once in the last few weeks except in file footage (and you know how these TV shows love to run that stuff into the ground).
The so called spiritual advisers to the Schindler's are another problem to me. I don't think they have Terri's interest at heart...there is a bigger agenda. These folks don't like to decisions that judges make and so they want to find a way to stop them from making rulings they don't like. In some cases making death threats against judges. THAT AGENDA WORRIES ME.
In the following BLOG comments, I totally agree with the writer. The woman and children that the Schindlers bring into this circus is sad. As far as I know they have not said a word. It seems to me that perhaps the Schindler's might be turning America off.
SAW THIS ON ANOTHER BLOG
My heart (and I do have one, despite what you may read on the cave walls of Lascaux) doesn't go out to that pair of publicity-grabbing fireplugs, who comported themselves with a complete lack of dignity compared to the husband and demonstrated their demagogic bad faith over the last two weeks.SAW THIS ON STILL ANOTHER BLOG
The so-called press conferences they do in front of the hospice, for example. A press conference, even in the Bush era, is supposed to incorporate questions from the press. Not with the Schindlers. The cable news correspondents announce that the Schindlers and their friar homies are about to hold a press conference, whereupon the Schindler camp forms this strange human choo-choo train toward the nest of microphones. Then as momma or poppa makes a terse statement, flanked by Randall Terry and the friars making their sad-determined faces. Sometimes the father uses phrases like "judicial homicide" that sound less like those of a grieving father than of someone who's been well prepped by his rightwing handlers. Last night the mother appealed to Michael's new partner, guilt-tripping her with references to the two children they have together, to devote herself to them and let her have her daughter back.
Then, entertaining no questions, they reformed the choo-choo train and chugged off stage right.

CAN WE TALK AGAIN
PLAY WITH FIRE PART TWORemember last year Michael Moore released his movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" and in it he said that some Saudis, including relatives of Osama bin Laden, managed to leave the United States on specially chartered flights. Remember the outrange that those comments made. Remember how he was labeled as a liar. Do you remember that.
Well it turns out that Judicial Watch, a conservative legal group, filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Justice Department and won. Copies of the documents were provided to The New York Times.
The New York Times reported on 3/27/2007:You won't see much of this on the cable channels and I serious doubt that FOX NEWS will call it a Breaking Story.
Now, newly released government records show previously undisclosed flights from Las Vegas and elsewhere and point to a more active role by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in aiding some of the Saudis in their departure.
The F.B.I. gave personal airport escorts to two prominent Saudi families who fled the United States, and several other Saudis were allowed to leave the country without first being interviewed, the documents show.
The Saudi families, in Los Angeles and Orlando, requested the F.B.I. escorts because they said they were concerned for their safety in the wake of the attacks, and the F.B.I. - which was then beginning the biggest criminal investigation in its history - arranged to have agents escort them to their local airports, the documents show.
All I can say is you were right Michael, good job. Oh yea, remember yesterday I said I think the past is catching up with the president...I think you can add one more straw to the pile.
LOOKING FOR SOME TRUTH
Last night I went to Google and entered in "Terri Schiavo" hoping to find some background info that wasn't slanted one way or the other. I did have a goal in mind and that was to get some general background on the history of this case but in particular I wanted to find out more about Michael Schiavo, Terri's husband.
I think he has been made out to be the bad guy in all this and I feel it is by design. I also feel that in all the BULLSHIT that is put on the cable channels much is being lost because it doesn't play well on TV. For example what is a Living Will, what is required to make one and how can YOU create one.
What is a Hospice, what is it for, how much does it cost, is it covered by your medical insurance or Medicare.
Well I found this site called Abstract Appeal and I can tell you that it is the most complete site I have found on this subject. It is a BLOG run by an attorney in Florida.
WelcomeI have only read a very small portion of the info this site has provided but I can tell you in the 30 minutes or so of reading it has made me understand that so much of what I've seen on TV is just BULLSHIT. Some people are not doing BASIC FACT CHECKING.
This is the "About" Page for Abstract Appeal, the first web log devoted to Florida law and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Click on the "Home Page" link to the left (or this link) to view the site's main page.
About Me
I'm Matt Conigliaro, an appellate attorney with Carlton Fields. I live and work in St. Petersburg, Florida and am board-certified by The Florida Bar in appellate practice. My practice is state-wide and consists of appellate work and trial support in a range of civil matters, including complex tort, commercial contract, coverage, products liability, and securities cases. I enjoy appeals of all natures, and law in general.
I'm not just reading and repeating info that this BLOG is saying but rather I'm reading info from the ACTUAL court records...not third party hear say and stuff I haven't heard before.
I'm going to be spending a lot more time here over the next few days and hope to get a better feel for what is really going on. If you are at all interested in getting to the truth you must visit this site. More to follow.

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.
1. Grab a calculator (you won't be able to do this one in your head).
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

TODAY'S WORD OF THE DAY
misstep
1. A misplaced or awkward step.
2. An instance of wrong or improper conduct; a blunder.
intr v. misstepped, misstepping, missteps
To make a mistake.
Well looking at the ABC/CNN/GALLUP POLL last week it sure seems to me that the BUSH/ROVE group made a BIG TIME misstep.
Going a little further but before looking at the bullet points of what is making Americans Jittery some might think that the Florida mess might have caused this problem for Bush.
That is most likely true if you've seen any of the many polls just dealing with that problem, but I think the past is catching up with Bush/Rove.
Just look at the points that seem to be making Americans worry:
GAS PRICES, DEBT/DEFICIT, IRAQ CAUSAITY, SOCIAL SECURITY and so on.
These are serious, serious problems and they are not being addressed. Some are being talked about like Social Security and the president is going out all over the country on an almost daily bases talking about it but he has not even presented a plan. Seems to me that's a little Fraud, Wastes and Abuse.
Look at the list and think back when we all were told there were WMD's, that there was a connection between IRAQ and al Qaida, that the IRAQ Oil would pay for the war, that we would be welcomed as LIBERATORS and on and on.
Can you see any misconceptions that Bush/Rove are putting forth in some of these points. Sure some are just cold hard facts that can't be changed, like the debt and deficit but they can still spin the issue.
I think the past is starting to catch up with the president. How does the saying go...

WE GET LETTERS
WHAT WOULD JESUS SAY Today being Easter and what is going on in Florida, today's Dose points up just one small problem with so called "true believers". There are none so blind that they will not see what is going on right in front of them. Back on March 10th I did a Daily Dose on Benny Hinn a so called Televangelist. As a result it raised a Rant from a visitor. I replied to his Rant but unfortunately he gave me a bogus email address. Guess he didn't have the courage of his convictions. At any rate here is his Rant followed by my reply. Submit1: Rant comments: Great quote you chose today. It is better to be critical than be correct. Well if the shoe fits go ahead and wear it. I'm sure it fits you perfectly. Don't you have anything better to do than to criticize people you do not know the facts about. I defend especially Benny Hinn because he aired his own show and his own investigation was conducted and Dateline was wrong again! So before you criticize you should have your facts straight. This is a terrible website. You should really do something better you know. I will never view this website again but I will tell you that I am so glad that I got this off my chest. May you find God in your heart even though you refuse him for now. HERE IS MY REPLY The other day you visited my BLOG and left a Rant (see above). You say Benny Hinn "conducted his own investigation". Isn't that a little like letting the Fox guard the hen house. You're kidding right? If he had nothing to hide why not talk to Dateline? Why not give them names of folks that are "HEALED" so that they can follow up. What's wrong with that? Does the TRUTH HURT. Don't you want to know how those people are doing? He's a fraud...face it. I guess you think good old Kevin Trudeau is ok too, huh. Oh well, I guess you'll go buy his book. You don't seem to like my BLOG, but I got to tell you I didn't invite you in. That's the nice thing about a Browser you can move on. It's like a remote control for your TV, you are just a click away from another channel. You should learn to use it a little more. Thanks for the good wishes but I don't think God likes it very much when people are mislead and given FALSE hope. That's the worst thing the Benny Hinn's of this world can do. PRETTY GOOD JOKES

AND YOU THOUGHT THE 2000 ELECTION IN FLORDIA WAS A MESS
WE ARE ALL LOSERS HERE Would it be wrong to wish that Terri Schiavo just quietly slip away? I'm not a particularly religious man. I was brought up as a Catholic having gone through the first eight grades in a Catholic school. But I know the difference between right and wrong. I don't feel the need to have a priest or preacher tell be what I should believe and do each Sunday.I know how to treat my neighbors, friends and family. I know I need to be a good citizen. I need to vote. I know I need to pay my taxes. I know I need to take care of the hungry, the poor, the sick and I do. I know that others don't necessarily agree with me and that's ok. But I also know I don't want them to put there so called values on me. I'm old enough and smart enough to do the right thing.
The nonsense that has been going on in Florida is outrageous. Leading the way is FOX NEWS broadcasting in front of the Hospice. Sean Hannity is MILKING this for all it's worth. They are putting people on the air telling BULLSHIT stories. Saying things that have not been proven. Young children being arrested for things they really don't understand. There are nuts that want to do violence with death threats against the judge and Mr. Schiavo. Trashing Michael Schiavo without proof. Saying the judge wants Terri dead, and on and on.
They say that Terri tried to talk by saying " I... Wwwaaan ". Then they add (to live). Meaning that she is talking and saying that she wants to live. But couldn't the argument also be made that IF SHE COULD TALK she was saying (TO DIE). From what I have heard she really can't talk she is just making sounds and these people are saying what they WANT to hear and so they are spreading more BULLSHIT.
Along with Sean Hannity there are some strange (want to say crazy) people around this whole event. The catholic priest (brother) that has ZERO compassion for Michael. The anti-abortion guy (that's a case) that seems to be the spokesman. Nurses that claim Michael was abusive. Where do these people come from. I don't get it.
These are the "SUPPOSED" CHRISTIANS of the world...fighting for Terri. I find it strange and ironic how some of these so called Christians will kill to get their way. Well if that is what Jesus would have done then it seems to me he is not worth following.
IS THERE ANY GOOD THAT WILL COME OUT OF THIS?
Well I would say maybe, just maybe. I think the Christian right is going to be seen as kooks. All of this should not have happened. It's a private matter... period. That's all it is. Anytime you stick your nose into someone else's business you are taking a big risk, and it seems to me you deserve whatever you get. In this case you are going to lose credibility.
The need for a Living Will is almost being lost in all of this. It should be what is being talked about but it isn't as sensational as what we are being feed. What is scary is with congress getting into the fray will my Living Will be any good.
I think the President ( more on him tomorrow ), Governor Bush, congress especially the republicans will all take a hit. Tom Delay (who by the way is in an undisclosed location right now) is a big looser in more ways than one. Bill Frist is a loser.
Please God give Terri some peace... now.
Today there are no jokes... the end.

SOMEONE HAS IT RIGHT
IT TAKES A COMEDIAN Jon Stewart nailed it last night on his show (The Daily Show). He said what I tried to say in yesterdays Daily Dose but didn't do as good a job as I might have. Watch this seven minute video it says it all as to what is going on in Florida. video View the seven minute Jon Stewart monologue here. PRETTY GOOD JOKES Whores And Hockey Players A man in the Florida supermarket tries to buy half a head of lettuce. The very young produce assistant tells him that they sell only whole heads of lettuce. The man persists and asks to see the manager. The boy says he'll ask his manager about it. Walking into the back room, the boy said to his manager, "Some asshole wants to buy half a head of lettuce." As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, "And this gentleman has kindly offered to buy the other half." The manager approved the deal, and the man went on his way. Later the manager said to the boy, "I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people who think on their feet here. Where are you from, son?" "Canada, sir," the boy replied. "Well, why did you leave Canada?" the manager asked. The boy said, "Sir, there's nothing but whores and hockey players up there." "Really?" said the manager. "My wife is from Canada." "No shit," replied the boy. "Who did she play for?"March 24, 2005
IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON
THIS TERRI SCHIAVO CASE IN FLORIDA IS DRIVING ME NUTS. I find it unbelievable that these Cable TV Talk Shows like Fox News' Hannity & Colmes and MSNBCS' Scarborough Country can exploit this situation the way they do. Hannity & Colmes is by far the worst. They have Hannity down their in front of the Pinellas Park Hospice broadcasting live. If that isn't exploiting nothing is. Terri's mother and father were on the show. That's the last place I would want to be. God knows there are enough other people talking about this, they sure as hell don't need to be doing that...you just have to wonder what that's all about. All of these Cable shows and I think Talk Radio too, are at best putting on hearsay evidence as to the care and handling of this patient. In some cases there is down right lies and bullshit. Note that bullshit is worse than a lie because the person spreading the BS knows what they are doing (see the following on what BS really is).WHAT IS BULLSHIT: One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. Everyone knows this. Each of us contributes his share. But we tend to take the situation for granted. Most people are rather confident of their ability to recognize bullshit and to avoid being taken in by it. So the phenomenon has not aroused much deliberate concern. We have no clear understanding of what bullshit is, why there is so much of it, or what functions it serves. And we lack a conscientiously developed appreciation of what it means to us. In other words, as Harry Frankfurt writes, "we have no theory." Frankfurt, one of the world's most influential moral philosophers, attempts to build such a theory here. With his characteristic combination of philosophical acuity, psychological insight, and wry humor, Frankfurt proceeds by exploring how bullshit and the related concept of humbug are distinct from lying. He argues that bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all. Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant. Frankfurt concludes that although bullshit can take many innocent forms, excessive indulgence in it can eventually undermine the practitioner's capacity to tell the truth in a way that lying does not. Liars at least acknowledge that it matters what is true. By virtue of this, Frankfurt writes, bullshit is a greater enemy of the truth than lies are.I can't catalog all the BS but go here for some of them.
Will this end it? The U.S. Supreme Court refuses to intervene in Terri Schiavo case. Lower court decision to remove feeding tube stands. One last thing...who wants to live like this? What is the purpose. Nobody win here, we all lose. Let her go to heaven, God knows she's spent to much time in hell as it is. WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED The one thing I've learned from all of this is that I need to get my Living Will put in place. My fear is that even with it being in place congress will find the need and the way to throw it out. I do have one that I created using a Computer program but I'm looking into having it done by the professionals...I just don't want to take a chance.
I do not want any extraordinary means employed to keep me alive...period, end of subject.

WE HAVE MORE SPIN TODAY
Michael Jackson is doing it again.
Shaky-looking (kooky-looking) Jackson arrives late for court. Testimony resumes after 45-minute delay, no comment from judge
A feeble-looking Michael Jackson arrived late again Monday to his child molestation trial, walking slowly and stiffly into court, but the judge took no apparent action against the pop star.
Jackson, who is said to have back problems, trembled and wept at the defense table as lawyers and a doctor who came to court in hospital scrubs conferred in chambers with Judge Rodney S. Melville.
The judge, who previously threatened to arrest Jackson and revoke his bail when he was late on March 10, gave no explanation of what was discussed and simply ordered testimony to resume.
Tom Delay says this is an easy moral issue not a political one. What the hell does Tom Delay know about moral issues...he needs to first work on his EITHICS, morality will follow. I think these congressmen are using the "BULLSHIT" method of persuasion. It's none of their, yours or my business. You know I think the dems screwed this up just like they have so many other things in the recent past. They gave the republicans the rope to hang themselves but made a big mistake by voting for OR against this plan. What I think they should have done is cast NO VOTE or just stay away. Let Tom DeLay and Frist use that rope. OK, Tom you managed to distract everyone for the last 3-4 days. You also showed that you can stand in front of a microphone again so how about answering some questions on ethics. I don't remember this much debate before going to war with Iraq. Maybe it's time to take Government out of all Family Matters? Republicans in Congress and administration officials say their actions are principled and courageous (yea right). Whatever the motives, dramatic actions on such a high-profile case will have repercussions in next year's congressional elections, campaign strategists say. We can only hope...we need to get back to some balance in congress. Polls and analyses suggest that Republicans could find themselves out of step with many Americans, especially if Democrats find a more unified voice on the subject. An ABC News poll released yesterday concluded that "Americans broadly and strongly disapprove of federal intervention in the Terri Schiavo case, with sizable majorities saying Congress is overstepping its bounds for political gain." Congress is out of touch with America. In the Iraq war, in gun control, all this morality stuff. I think we will see a change in congress and a move to the center. I hope. One final comment on Terri's father, sister and brother, if this is what faith and religion mean to them I'll have no part of it. They have said some really awful things about Michael, just awful.

WHAT PART OF POLITICS AS USUAL DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND
LETS TALK SPIN
Today's subject is WAL-MART Contribution. As a part of our ongoing partnership with the government we've agreed to contribute 11 million dollars to help support the fair enforcement of immigration law.
That was WAL-MARTS spin on agreeing to a settlement to charges that they employed or used illegal aliens. How sweet is that.
BTW, WAL-MART makes $288 billion in sales each year. They ring up as much as their fine ...errrrrr "contribution" in just 19 minutes at the cash register.
THIS IS NOT SPIN...IT'S BULLSHIT
It's interesting to hear the republicans saying they are interested in taking care of the weak and down trodden. This has got to be the biggest bunch of BULLSHIT in the history of congress. Pure BULLSHIT.
HERE IS WHAT IT'S REALLY ALL ABOUT.
ABC News has obtained talking points circulated among Republican senators explaining why they should vote to intervene in the Schiavo case. Among them: "This is an important moral issue and the pro-life base will be excited..." and "This is a great political issue... this is a tough issue for Democrats."
Bay Buchanan on CNN INSIDE POLITICS called Michael Shiavo a low life with no integrity. Now how does she know that? She has never met the man. She has put herself in the same category as the ethically challenged Tom Delay.
Well that's it from SPIN-CITY for now.

BLOWIN' IN THE WIND Yesterday was the 2nd anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. 30-40 years ago there was a song, a national anthem that could be appropriate today.
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many years can a mountain existBob Dylan... NATIONAL DEBT:
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

THINGS PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW
IS ASHLEY SMITH'S HOSTAGE STORY COMPLETELY TRUE?
I've been wondering about this for a little while. I have some questions I'd sure like answered. For example who goes out for smokes at 2:30 in the morning. I mean I was a smoker for 30 plus years until about 15 years ago. I was a pack or more a day smoker and have never gone out at 2:30 in the morning to get cigarettes. It's bed time, ok.
Why when she drove/followed him to move his truck didn't she just take off? He was in the truck she was in her car. Why didn't she call 911 for help.
How come she happened to have clothes that fit him. As I understand it her husband had been killed over 4 years ago. I think she had just recently moved into this apartment.
There may be very good answers to these questions but I sure haven't heard them. Did she know him already?
JUST LET HER DIE
This Terri Shiavo mess is just that, now that Tom Delay is involved. Many thought that congress had no business sticking it's head into baseball. But in this case it's true this is a personal family matter and congress should stay out.
The groups that are protesting all of this want people to live forever yet they also want to cut FUNDING on every program that help pay to achieve those lofty goals. I also find it funny that they say that only God can end a life except when it come to the DEATH PENELTY in which case God has delegated that responsibility to the state.
I saw Michael Shiavo's attorney George Felos on CNN today and he was mad, mad as hell at congress, both the republicans and democrats. He said congress tried to intimidate and coerce Michael Shiavo. Felos called the House interference "thuggery" and said Terri Schiavo was "a pawn in a political football game."
He was particularly mad at the democrats, saying that they would remain the minority party as long as they don't develop some backbone and stand for something. Amen.
The problem in this case has made very clear to me why the democrats lose and will continue to lose. They will not stand up for what they believe. Yes Delay is a dirt bag...but the democrats are working overtime to catch up.

THEY INSULT OUR INTELEGENCE
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL IS A JOKE
What pathetic steps these two groups want to take to solve problems inherent in their sport. In the case of MLB it's Steroids and testing while in the case of College sports it's the rate of graduation for athletes.
The House Hearings on Steroids in Baseball was the biggest comedy I have seen in years. To think that these guys make the kind of money they do it's mind boggling.
Bud Selig Baseball Commissioner seems to think that DRUGS in MLB started yesterday...is he nuts. Didn't we know about drugs back in say the '80's? Didn't Nancy Regan have a program called "JUST SAY NO". Yes steroids is different but there still drugs and illegal... what part of illegal don't they understand.
To tell the truth I think Jose Conseco came out the big winner in today's hearings. Management and the Union looked and talked like fools. They BOTH sleep in the same bed.
I think what might be a good idea is to think of MLB as a business and as such deal with them with our BUYING DOLLAR. We should pick a day...say Opening Day and Boycott that game nation wide. Through our pocket book I think we could get some real change in the drug testing program. Management blames the Union and the Union blames Management...now isn't that sweet.
To tell the truth I think Jose Conseco came out the big winner AND Mark McGwire the big looser in today's hearings. Management and the Union looked and talked like fools. They BOTH sleep in the same bed. Conseco at least made people talk about this subject even if it was to deny that they took them...they were talking.
Baseball has done nothing...zero...zip...they don't have a clue.
NCAA men's teams fail in class
Only 23 men's teams in the 65-team NCAA Tournament managed to graduate at least 50 percent of their student-athletes. Two men's teams, LSU and Minnesota, failed to graduate even one basketball player, according to numbers supplied by the 2004 NCAA Graduation Rates Report. No. 1 seeds Illinois (47 percent) and Washington (45 percent) graduated fewer than half their players. UCF's Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport also found an increasing disparity between the graduation rates of white and black student-athletes on teams playing in this year's NCAA Tournament.
Bucknell and Utah State graduated 100 percent of their men's basketball players, but only four other schools topped 70 percent.
I've said it for years and I'll say it again. The schools should have a program (learning track) that pays these players a wage. They would take classes on how to handle money and deal with people. Things that will help them when they get out of school. If they want a REAL education (education track) they could sign up for that instead. Either way they are better prepared for the future.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

SLEEPLESS IN HOUSTON
EBBERS PLEADED STUPIDITY, JURY AGREES...CONVICTS HIM ON ALL NINE COUNTS.
Bernard Ebbers could spend the rest of his life in prison following his conviction Tuesday on nine felony counts related to an $11 billion accounting fraud that led WorldCom, Inc. to file in 2002 what remains the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history.
For ex-Enron chairman Lay, HealthSouth founder Scrushy and former Tyco International CEO Kozlowski, the downfall of one of their peers has to be chilling, legal experts said Tuesday.
It could be a restless night for Kenneth Lay, Richard Scrushy and Dennis Kozlowski.
HE'S STILL DISHING OUT BAD ADVICE
Alan Greenspan, the chairman of the Federal Reserve, defended himself on Tuesday against Democratic lawmakers who say he contributed to soaring budget deficits by endorsing President Bush's tax cuts in 2001.
Mr. Greenspan acknowledged that he and many others had been wrong to expect trillions of dollars in surpluses that never materialized.
Mr. Greenspan repeated his support for private retirement accounts on Tuesday, saying they could make it harder for Congress to spend annual surpluses in the Social Security trust fund. This year, those programs are expected to take in about $173 billion more than they pay out in benefits, but in 2018 the surpluses are expected to turn into deficits.
SENATOR FIRST FOR PRESIDENT

PRETTY GOOD JOKES
The following questions and answers were collated from the SAT tests given to 16 years-old students! Don't laugh too hard -- one of them could become president one day! You have to admit some are very creative.
Q: What is a seizure?A: A Roman Emperor.. Q: What is a terminal illness?
A: When you are sick at the airport. Q: Give an example of a fungus. What is a characteristic feature?
A: Mushrooms. They always grow in damp places and so they look like umbrellas. Q: What does the word "benign" mean?
A: Benign is what you will be after you be eight. Q: What is a turbine?
A: Something an Arab wears on his head.

IF YOUR UNDER AGE 40 YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND
Black and WhiteYou could hardly see for all the snow, Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go. Pull a chair up to the TV set, "Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet." Dependin'g on the channel you tuned, You got Rob and Laura - or Ward and June. It felt so good. It felt so right. Life looked better in black and white. I Love Lucy, The Real McCoys, Dennis the Menace, the Cleaver boys, Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Superman, Jimmy and Lois Lane. Father Knows Best, Patty Duke, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie too, Donna Reed on Thursday night! Life looked better in black and white. I wanna go back to black and white. Everything always turned out right. Simple people, simple lives Good guys always won the fights. Now nothing is the way it seems, In living color on the TV screen. Too many murders, too many fights, I wanna go back to black and white. In God they trusted, alone they slept, A promise made was a promise kept. They never cussed or broke their vows. They'd never make the network now. But if I could, I'd rather be In a TV town in '53. It felt so good. It felt so right. Life looked better in black and white. I'd trade all the channels on the satellite, If I could just turn back the clock tonight To when everybody knew wrong from right. Life was better in black and white!PRETTY GOOD JOKES You've heard it before I'm sure... A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. WHERE HAS THE SUN GONE
WHY DO TROOPS LACK TOURNIQUETS? YOU GO TO WAR WITH THE ARMY YOU HAVE, NOT THE ARMY YOU WANT...Donald Rumsfeld
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Internet bloggers should enjoy traditional press freedoms and not face regulation as political groups, lawmakers and online journalists said Friday.
In separate letters, Democratic lawmakers and Internet commentators urged the Federal Election Commission to make sure that political Web sites that serve as focal points for political discussion, like Wonkette.com and Freerepublic.com, don't have to comply with campaign-finance rules.
PRETTY GOOD JOKES String Theory (This is so stupid it's actually funny) A string walks into a bar with a few friends and orders a beer. The bartender says, "I'm sorry, but we don't serve strings here."
The string walks away a little upset and sits down with his friends. A few minutes later he goes back to the bar and orders a beer. The bartender, looking a little exasperated, says, "I'm sorry, we don't serve strings here."
So the string goes back to his table. Then he gets an idea. He ties himself in a loop and messes up the top of his hair. Then he walks back up to the bar and orders a beer.
The bartender squints at him and says, "Hey, aren't you a string?"
And the string says, "Nope, I'm a frayed knot."

WORKING IN THE YARD
NOW I KNOW MY ABCsA is for Apple, and B is for Boat,Now:
That used to be right, But now it won't float!
Age before Beauty is what we once said,
But let's be a bit more realistic instead.
- A's for arthritis;
- B's the bad back,
- C is the chest pains, perhaps cardiac?
- D is for dental decay and also decline,
- E is for eyesight, can't read that top line!
- F is for fissures and fluid retention,
- G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.
- H is high blood pressure--I'd prefer it low;
- I for incisions with scars you can show.
- J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,
- K is for knees that crack when they bend.
- L for libido, what happened to sex?
- M is for memory, I forget what comes next
- N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;
- O is for osteo, the bones that don't grow!
- P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!
- Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?
- R for reflux, one meal turns to two.
- S for sleepless nights, counting my fears,
- T for Tinnitus; there are bells in my ears!
- U is for urinary; big troubles with flow;
- V is for vertigo, that's "dizzy," you know.
- W is for worry, NOW what's going 'round?
- X is for X-ray, and what might be found.
- Y is another year I'm left here behind,
- Z is for zest that I still have--in my mind.
Give Me A Double
So this guy walks into a bar and says, "Gve me two beers."
The bartender obliges him.
The guy looks into his wallet and says, "Give me two more beers."
So the bartender gives him two more beers. The man went on like this until he had put down ten beers, and keeps on going in his wallet and asking for two more beers.
So the bartender asks, "What's in your wallet that you keep looking at?"
So the man opens his wallet and says, "The more I drink, the prettier my wife gets."

OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY
THEY JUST NEVER GIVE UP
Some Alabama lawmakers and the American Family Association (a group that see things as they want, NOT AS THEY ARE), want to stop the viewing of a video for kids because "it promotes a non traditional family model".
I viewed the video HERE and all I can say is that these people are nuts. It's a happy song and a cute video and says nothing about a life style unless you think being nice to each other is a bad thing. Oh by the way...the kids that saw the video said it was about being KIND to people. Something that these adult lawmakers and AMA people could take a lesson from. LEFTOVERS
Why did Hillary Clinton cast a "NOT VOTING" vote rather than a YES or NO vote on the Bankruptcy Bill this week?
Why is President Bush going all over the country promoting Social Security when as far as I can tell he has not developed a plan?

FUNNY BUT SAD
BRIDGE DESERVES GAS TAX FUNDING I found the Overviews column in today's SUN Opinion page very interesting...but a little late in the scheme of things. The first paragraph say "Will Narrows Bridge users get fairness in transportation funding from state legislators? Or will they be on the losing side of a double standard for tolls and gasoline tax revenues?" CLICK HERE to read the full article.
It's a good idea but a little late. The Bridge is under construction as we speak, the time to argue how to finance it was back 2-3 years ago BEFORE starting construction. NOW NOBODY CARES and they sure as hell will not share one penny from their own little project. SOCIAL SECURITY IS SO MUCH MORE In today's SUN letter to the editor, the below letter posed some troubling questions but ask the ONLY question that needs to be answered. What happens to the 37 percent of our Social Security benefits that currently goes to widows, orphaned children, the disabled and other needy people? Are they to become the forgotten? It's a moral question, not a financial analysis. Are we an "only me" society where everyone looks out only for themselves - or do we support a social contract with each other that assures a guaranteed safety net for everyone? GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK
COURAGE
Your a good man Dan. A man is not measured by one story if it is of no great importance in a long list of life events, and in this case it isn't even a highlight.
Here is a short list of "Ratherisms," the colorful-verging-on-strange descriptive phrases that the CBS anchor has become known for over the years. Many of the most memorable Ratherisms have been uttered on various election nights.
- "This race is hotter than the devil's anvil."
- "This race is hotter than a Times Square Rolex."
- "This situation in Ohio would give an aspirin a headache."
- "If you had to bet the double wide right now, you'd have to bet [Bush] wins."
- "Don't taunt the alligator until after you've crossed the creek."
- "If a frog had side pockets, he'd carry a handgun."
- "In Southern states they beat him like a rented mule."
- "This race is as hot and tight as a too-small bathing suit on a too-long car ride home from the beach."
- "If California is the big burrito and Texas is the big taco, then Florida is the big tamale … and right now it's only the tamale that counts."
- (To John Kerry advisor Joe Lockhart): "I know that you'd rather walk through a furnace in a gasoline suit than consider the possibility that John Kerry would lose Ohio."
- (To Lockhart) "What about Michigan? It's been out there for a long time. Is that making your fingernails sweat?"
- "This presidential race has been crackling like a hickory fire for at least the last hour and a half."
- The election is "closer than Lassie and Timmy."
The controversy over steroids in baseball erupted yesterday as a Congressional committee fired off 11 subpoenas, and Major League Baseball vowed to resist.
Let them take the "FIFTH" people will make up their own minds.
MLB is a JOKE!!! or should I say "Juiced."
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM
You know these guys have been around for years and years. Probably since the beginning of time. I don't think they have changed their approach in the slightest over the years. It's just that new believers are born every day.
What am I talking about you ask... I'm talking about the folks that make outrageous claims and offer you false hope. The first is BENNY HINN. You've seem him on TV knocking people over with the wave of his hand. I'm sorry, but if that isn't the dumbest thing you've ever seen I don't know what is.
The other night Dateline did a follow-up on Benny Hinn Ministries. Two years ago "Dateline NBC's" hidden cameras followed the self-described miracles of television's popular televangelist and faith healer, Benny Hinn. Now, in a follow-up investigative report on Dateline Sunday, Bob McKeown reported on what happens to some of the millions of dollars sent to the Hinn Ministry by his devoted followers. I think you can guess what they found...it wasn't good.
He provides a response to the show on his web site but I got to tell you when GOD tells him not to talk well you know you better not talk.

SO MUCH ON MY PLATE
NICE GOING
The other day I sent an email to the Bremerton City Mayor asking for an explanation about a procedure that didn't seem to be followed (see 3/7 and 3/6 below). I figured that the email would end up in the round file but I was wrong.
I got a call that day from Roger A. Lubovich, City Attorney. We played phone tag but finally got connected. I can't remember everything he said but I can say that I was satisfied with what had happened and that they (the city) had handled the problem correctly.
Nice job Roger and thanks for the call...I was surprised and pleased.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
A Washington State Transportation Commission fare proposal includes a proposed new system that would shorten the expiration time for frequent-rider books and limit their use to one individual.
Four public meetings the ferry system scheduled in Kitsap County to explain the new tariff proposals and give the public a chance to sound off before they are made into law are now over.
"This is all based on what we can do to help people understand the new tariff system. And the tariff proposals are not a done deal. There is a process and public comment is a part of that process, and that's where we are now," said Susan Harris-Huether, spokeswoman for the ferry system. See my Daily Dose on 2-10-5.
I didn't attend any of the meetings because I feel they are a waste of time and are really a "FEEL GOOD" exercise for the Commission. Well according to Val Torrens in The Reporter on 3-9-5 she is very critical of the Commissions proposal. NO ONE from the Commission was there to answer questions from the public. Placards were set up and paper provided for people to write down their comments. ARE THEY NUTS!!!
As I said I didn't go to the meetings and it turns out I was right to save my time. You can tell from the interest the Commission showed on this public comment meeting nothing was going to happen and as far as I can tell it wasn't important to them.
I'm sending them an email and we look forward to their quick response.
THERE MIGHT BE A LITTLE DELAY
WASHINGTON, March 8 - Documents subpoenaed from an indicted fund-raiser for Tom DeLay, the House majority leader, suggest that Mr. DeLay was more actively involved than previously known in gathering corporate donations for a political committee that is the focus of a grand-jury investigation in Texas, his home state. Hmmmmm.

I just tuned into CNN to see the last few minutes of Martha Stewart talking with her employees. I wish I had seen it all and hope they will replay it later.

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS
WE SHALL SEE WHAT WE SHALL SEE I sent copy of yesterdays "Daily Dose" to Bremerton City Mayor asking him if he would address this issue. I sent copies to the city council, city attorney and the editor of the Bremerton Sun. I asked the question: The mayor, city attorney or someone on the council needs to address this issue and clear the air. Can it start with you? Don't hold your breath for a reply from any of them. I will post any answer I get back. DIVIDED WE STAND Back on 2/23/5 I did a map of the split up of the state of Washington, I called it WA-Idaho. And now there is a move to split up King County. I'm telling you the republicans are good at splitting hairs, issues and now counties and states.
It seems to me using their logic we really need to split up the whole country. We could call it THE DIVIDED STATES OF AMERICA.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT
A PROCEDURE WAITING TO BE FOLLOWED There was a very interesting letter to the editor in the Bremerton Sun yesterday. It addressed the question of some 39 acres of wooded watershed property that was recently acquired by the city. According to the letter: "The property was never publicly offered for sale, no realtor had been contacted to place it on the market, and no public notice was ever made that this property was surplus to the City of Bremerton's needs and available for sale." And in addition neither the public works department director or the planning department director even knew the current value of the property. These government officials nevertheless quickly accepted an offer from an out-of-town, out-of-county developer. No other offers were made for the Tracyton Watershed acreage because apparently no one else really knew about it. This transaction smells to high heaven. Simply not knowing the current value of the property leads one to wonder what are these department directors doing? If I put my house on the market you can bet the FIRST thing I would do is know what it was worth. There must be a procedure for handling a transaction like this...a secret bid and acceptance of that bid can not be it. SOCIAL SECURITY It's interesting to see how the republicans are spinning the seniors opposing the presidents social security initative like it's a BAD thing. We used to value the wisdom and judgement of our seniors. For some reason the republicans want to diminish it. ON ANOTHER ISSUE Way do the republicans continue to say that folks that oppose the war WANT US TO FAIL IN IRAQ. That drives me crazy. We are where we are and it just doesn't make sense for use to NOT want to succeed. Do I want to fight another war in IRAN, North Korea or any other place...HELL NO!!! This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework. The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades changed to passing grades even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough school work to pass their classes. IT'S A GOOD THING
COUNT DOWN TO THE RELEASE OF MARTHA STEWART
NOW TURN TO PAGE 23
Taking things out of context, which seems to be the hallmark of a conservative republican these days. They sing from the same song book, talk from the same talking points and twist that which was said to suit their own agenda.
For example, Brit Hume on FOXNEWS and Bill Bennett change what FDR said around to suit there needs as though nobody would check what FDR ACTUALLY DID SAY, it's nothing close to what they said. Click here for complete story. and pay close attention to what he REALLY said. Even James Roosevelt Jr., grandson of our 32nd president, former associate commissioner on Social Security says it's a lie and shame on Hume.
What's in a word. Bill Clinton wanted congress to commit 60 percent of the SURPLUS (now that's a word we haven't heard in oh...4 or 5 years) into the Social Security Trust Fund with a small portion of it to be invested in mutual funds. Wait a minute wasn't it a republican congress back then too?
What did Bush do...he gave that SURPLUS away so now we have a $7 trillion dollar deficient. Way to go boys, turn the page.
*** SOCIAL SECURITY FOR DUMMIES ***.
Then, Bush declares there isn't money for when the Social Security beneficiaries require more money than the payroll taxes supply, and says the only solution is to cut Social Security benefits:

ENJOY IT BUT TAKE IT SLOW
With all that is going on in the middle east you just have to ask the following question: Did we do the right thing for the wrong reasons by going into IRAQ. We also must temper what is going on in the middle east with a very large dose of caution.
THEY SAY ONE THING AND DO ANOTHER
You know I don't get it. Aren't the republicans the ones that say they are for LESS government? Well now comes Alaska's Ted Stevens (R). COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS
COUNT DOWN TO THE RELEASE OF MARTHA STEWART
YESTERDAY WE TALKED ABOUT THE TRUST FUND
I keep hearing folks that want to promote
the private accounts in Social Security say that there are NO FUNDS in the trust fund, it's broke. What I don't understand is that if there was a surplus (more fund put in than where paid out). WHAT HAPPENED to that money?
If the answer is that congress used it than I think the solution is very simple...pay it back FIRST, then work on a way to fund the damn thing so that it's safe.
*** SOCIAL SECURITY FOR DUMMIES ***.
Now the Bush Administration is saying that when beneficiaries require more money than payroll taxes generate - 2018 or 2028, depending on who's talking - that we will not be able to afford it.
This basically means that the Bush Administration is following a policy of ignoring the Trust Fund entirely. Rather than viewing excess money as going to the Trust Fund, they view it as going to the government:
