HUFFINGTON POST HEADLINE

Had my pre-admittance meeting with Harrison Hospital yesterday. I'm scheduled to be at the Hospital at 7:30 am Tuesday. I'm taking a cab in and I guess I'll need to go to the Northwoods Lodge for a while (hope it's just a week). My son said he'd look after my dogs. I'll miss them like crazy. Today I'm going to cook some steak strips for them for a New Years treat. My leg has been going down hill since I've decided to do the Hip replacement a few months ago. * - - - - - * According to a study released earlier today, teenagers who have taken a "virginity pledge" are still just as likely to engage in premarital sex than those who have not pledged their abstinence. But worse than that, the study found that those same abstinence-swearing teenagers are far less likely to use a form of birth control - condoms, etc - when they do become sexually active. The new analysis of data from a large federal survey found that more than half of youths became sexually active before marriage regardless of whether they had taken a "virginity pledge," but that the percentage who took precautions against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases was 10 points lower for pledgers than for non-pledgers. Why is this report NOT A SURPRISE? The answer is that this is the same result of most past studies but the religious right just turns a deaf ear to it. * - - - - - * Got to pay all my bills in the next couple of days for January cause I won't have a chance after next week. * - - - - - *I BEG YOUR PARDON
Sounds like this baby is off to a good start.

In an investigative series published by the SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER, reporter Eric Nalder revealed what happens when a private contractor takes advantage of taxpayer dollars and a law encouraging privatization, then drops the ball — in this case, depriving military families of new housing. The story revolves around a private contractor hired to build and manage 460 new military family homes at a Washington state base — a job it never finished. Nalder's series and our broadcast also detail what happened to one man who blew the whistle.
