BUSH'S REIGN OF TERROR -- A TIMELINE: 2000

Back in the 1970's Jimmy Carter was right. But will any republican and some democrats admit that he was RIGHT. Before you answer that remember he wanted to improve the gas mileage, he wanted America to conserve. Today almost 40 years later the average improvement in car MPG is about 6 miles. * - - - - - *
The auto industry this week begins a hectic push to get Congress to fund $25 billion in promised loan guarantees. Some in the industry even hope for an additional $25 billion.
The energy bill Congress passed in December mandated a 40% increase in fuel-economy standards by 2020 and provided for $25 billion of loan guarantees to help automakers and suppliers upgrade plants for new, fuel-efficient technology and vehicles. But lawmakers have not yet approved money for them - $3.8 billion for the upfront costs of the initial $25 billion in loan guarantees.
I don't think congress should do anything without FIRST making sure that the current management step down WITH OUT THE GOLDEN PARCHUTE.

They just don't stop. They think that if you say A LIE often enough that eventually it will be true. Here is just a few of what John McSame keeps saying. I'll have Sarah and others on tomorrow and the following days.
JOHN McCAIN "The fact is that Gov. Palin learned that earmarks are bad and she did say, we don't need our bridge to nowhere, and we will pay for it ourselves if we need it. I mean, that is just a fact." [WWBT, 9/8/08] "And as governor of Alaska, Governor Sarah Palin said 'We don't need a bridge to nowhere and if we do, we'll build it ourselves.' That's the kind of person - leader - we have." [Press conference in Cedarsburg, WI, 9/5/08] "Look, we couldn't get the 'bridge to nowhere' out, although we tried. … Yeah, the pork barrel project, $233 million bridge in Alaska to an island with 50 people on it. She, as governor, stood up and said, we don't need it, and if we need it, we'll pay for it ourselves." [Fox News, 8/31/08] "You know, I tried to stop the $233 million bridge to nowhere in Alaska. She got it done! She stopped it! (Cheers, applause.) You know what she said? She said, we don't need that money from Washington. If we're going to need a bridge, we'll build it ourselves. That's Governor Sarah Palin!" [Rally in O'Fallon, MO, 8/31/08]* - - - - - * TODAYS BIG NUMBER: 265 (Up and Down, Up and Down. . . ) * - - - - - *

Billy Boy O'Reilly just goes NUTS whenever he hears someone has TOLD THE TRUTH about him. This time it was a reporter and John Stewart.
Even when Billy is on video tape with a live mic on he will deny that he said something. The mans nuts. See my post on 9-4-8 for Jon Stewarts take on this. * *ECHO CHAMBER PART 2 OF 4
Kathleen Hall Jamieson has been aiding the JOURNAL in making sense of the volatile election season. She's analyzed gender and politics, life after the early primaries, and how the Internet has changed the campaign and politics itself. She was last here to analyze this year's crop of campaign ads.
This week, Jamieson looks the key moments and messages of the Republican National Convention. * *THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JOHN MCSAME

Keith Olbermann picks the three worst persons in the world.
O'Reilly contradicts himself on teen pregnancy Sept. 8: On the occasion of 17-year-old Bristol Palin's pregnancy, Bill O'Reilly followed the Republican talking points and declared the story out-of-bounds. However, when 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears announced her pregnancy, O'Reilly placed blame on her parents and refereed to teens being "pinheads in some ways." * *DOGS RULE - YOU CAN SEE THE LOVE
