I'M SHOCKED, SHOCKED

I was listening to Dave Ross Talk Show this morning (Wednesday). He was talking about Scott McClellan's new book "WHAT HAPPENED". The point Dave was making is that we treat the president as a King.

Loyalty to the president is the MOST IMPORTANT thing. You see it in the spoils that are dished out IE: JOBS. Can you say "Heckuva a job Brownie". The list of the friends and supporters of Bush that are and were put into jobs not because of their knowledge or background but because they "WERE LOYAL" to the president. Many have since resigned.

You couldn't turn on the TV yesterday and not see someone from the Bush administration past or present come out and bash the hell out Scott. Watch the video and you'll see they all have their TALKING POINTS down pat.

A side note to this video is that Lawrence O'Donnell nails loud mouth Pat Buchanan about his not speaking out during the Nixon administration.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THE PAST

Scott McClellan's new book "WHAT HAPPENED" also reminded me of what happened to the Dixie Chicks just before the Iraq war started who on March 10th, 2003 (a few days before we attacked Iraq) said "Just so you know, we're on the good side with y'all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."

For that simple little statement the Chicks got trashed, some shows needed to be canceled. The comment angered many country music fans and was financially damaging. Following the uproar and the start of a boycott of Dixie Chicks' music, Maines attempted to clarify matters on March 12 by saying, "I feel the President is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world."

Some of these folks that came out yesterday to criticize Scott a said that if Scott felt this way all he had to do was come talk to them. Yea sure I think all you need to do is talk to The Dixie Chicks and see how well that went.

One significant exception to the criticism of Dixie Chicks from the realm of country music was country music veteran and strident Iraq war opponent Merle Haggard, who in the summer of 2003 released a song critical of US media coverage of the Iraq War. Haggard said the attack on the Chicks was a "witch-hunt and lynching." On July 25 2003, the Associated Press reported him saying:

" I don't even know the Dixie chicks, but I find it an insult for all the men and women who fought and died in past wars when almost the majority of America jumped down their throats for voicing an opinion. It was like a verbal witch-hunt and lynching."

I've noticed a bit of defensiveness on the part of some journalists. It's hard to look in the mirror and face the truth I guess.

Is there anyone in congress as SELF SERVING as this guy. He takes advantage of everything in the world but is not willing to let anyone else share in it.
