EARLY SCREENING FOR AUTISM

Physicians Group Urges Early Autism Screening

The American Academy of Pediatrics, or AAP, is urging early screening for autism spectrum disorders, or ASDs, for all children. The group, currently holding its annual meeting in San Francisco, is releasing two new clinical reports. The first, "Identification and Evaluation of Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders," calls for early screening and provides information on signs and symptoms to help pediatricians recognize ASDs in patients. The second, "Management of Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders," emphasizes early intervention and reviews treatments and educational strategies for children with ASDs. They can deny this all day long but "at the end of the day" (god, I hate saying that) it's just the truth. And it's not just the Bor-man and Hannity I feel it even in the basic news. It's just twisted.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

This is was a part of a larger story that I read on The Huffington Post the other day. I thought it was interesting because the writer used the same "IDEA" here in America as opposed to the third world to get her start.

Come to think about it I did the same thing years and years ago when I was about 21. I wanted to buy my first home and the cost was $10,000.00 (today that house is worth over $400,000.00). I needed a co-signer to get a $1,000.00 loan and my older brother gave me a hand. I paid the loan off and got the house.

The only down side is I sold the house for about what I paid for it.

It was one of those days. I had a void to fill, a yearning that I couldn't put my finger on. That void led me to a local grocery store that carries the most delectable corn nuts I have ever tasted. Ok, a temporary fix, but corn nuts would do. As I headed to the store my car radio was tuned into BBC. I listened to an interview with Matt Flannery, the founder of Kiva.org, a new micro finance organization. I pulled over to take notes. Kiva was me, mine, a void filler in the finest form. Kiva, meaning unity in Swahili, would allow me to help fund a small loan to an entrepreneur in a developing country, through their website and paypal. I immediately related to the concept.
Twenty years ago, while fleeing an abusive relationship in San Diego, I ended up on my Sister's doorstep in Seattle. I left with very little, some clothes, my sewing machine, my bag patterns, $40.00, and the remains of my self-esteem. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to reinvent my life, but how?
I had started making leather handbags as I worked my way through fine arts school. It was something I had a passion for, and a trade I had always fallen back on. Starting my bag business in Seattle's Pike Place Market was my new goal. Without a clue as to how this dream would be funded, a caring neighbor offered me a loan to do just that. That was the beginning of Brown Bags. Along with that loan, came an upgrade to my self-esteem. Someone believed in me enough to take a risk. I paid that $800.00 loan back within a year.
Knowing how my own micro loan experience had changed my life, I had no doubt that Kiva.org would allow me the opportunity to give back, change someone else's life. By putting the money directly into their pocket, an entrepreneur has the opportunity to create their own niche in their community. It allows them to do what they do best, and support their families at the same time.

POLITICS AND TERROR 9 of 12

So now IRAQ isn't enough now president Bush wants World War Three with IRAN.

Back in August 2006 Keith Olbermann did a piece on his show Countdown called Politics and Terror. This was a replay of the show he had previously done.

This is a 12 part series and at the time I didn't have the disk space to run it. That's changed since I moved to GoDaddy for my Hosting.

With the comment by president Bush yesterday using the WWIII scare tactic I thought this was a good time to run this.

As you watch this series keep in mind that great line by president Reagan "THERE YOU GO AGAIN. The Bush folks love to play the FEAR CARD.

CHENEY AND FEAR 9 of 14

YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED VERY, VERY WORRIED

I saw this on FRONTLINE the other night. It confirms one thing in my mind and that is Cheney is the real president it's just that he does his thing from that damn undisclosed location.

As I watched this video it reminded me about some of my Posts in the past where Cheney said one thing a few years back but today does the complete opposite on almost everything. He's scary.

This is a 16 part series and it traces the how Cheney evolved to the crazy person he is today. Good thing Halloween is coming up cause he'll fit right in. He is scary. . . really, really scary.
