NASCAR FOLLOW UP

I sent an email to the State Auditors office asking what would happen should the NASCAR Track fail. I was talking about the post I made on 12/26/5 in it I was talking about a letter to the editor. In part here is what I asked the Auditor.

The writer seems to be suggesting that there is NO RISK to the taxpayers or the State should this project fail. That sure would be nice but I fear that with some good lawyers that may not be true.

Some attorney called me and he said that it was to early in the process to know what might or might not happen. I thought that was a really dumb answer and think the reason he called vs. email is there is no record of what he said. Yea I know there's a conspiracy around every corner.

Anyway I told him I was just interested in the PROCEDURE not that it would happen.

He then said that all of that would be negotiated by a bunch of lawyers.

His damn cell phone was just awful and I was missing words when he talked so I said thanks for the call.

He didn't or wouldn't answer my question so I'll try and figure out who I should contact next. More to come.

COUNTDOWN SLAP DOWN

Olbermann Calls On Gibson To "Acknowledge What He Said" & Resign On Christmas day.

On Tuesday night, Olbermann threw another log on to the fire and poured on some gasoline as he made complaints about the Worst Person in the World award the #3 story on Countdown.

Gibson accused Olbermann of misquoting him, so Olbermann played the full audio tape of Gibson's statement about religion.

"Ordinarily when somebody gets caught saying something as intolerant as this, their choices are:

  • a) to apologize,
  • b) to resign, or
  • c) to make sure there's no tape and try to lie their way out of it,"

Olbermann said. "John chose "d" -- blame it on somebody else."

"The audio clip is the definitive answer, and I would hope John would now have the self-respect to acknowledge what he said, and to leave the airwaves for good. Because, between the remark and the denial, he has -- sadly -- forfeited his right to stay here."

CHRIS MATTHEWS: 2005'S MISINFORMER OF THE YEAR

CMmisInform.jpg

Media Matters for America has monitored, analyzed, and corrected conservative misinformation in the media, wherever and whenever they find it.

Last year Media Matters for America named it's first annual "Misinformer of the Year." They singled out one particularly egregious purveyor of falsehoods and awarded Bill O'Reilly the dubious title.

This year, of all the news anchors, columnists, pundits, and reporters whose work they've critiqued and corrected, one man stands alone as a clear successor to the O'Reilly throne.

We are pleased to announce broadcast journalist, former newspaper bureau chief, former presidential speechwriter, and best-selling author Chris Matthews has earned the title of 2005's "Misinformer of the Year."

At times, it has even been difficult to tell the difference between 2005's Misinformer of the Year and his predecessor.

I've listed one liners here of the basic statement that Chris Matthews has said. For the complete story click on Visit the site below.

  • Chris: George Bush sometimes "glimmers" with "sunny nobility."
  • Chris: "Everybody sort of likes the president, except for the real whack-jobs ..."
  • Chris: George Bush "belongs on Mount Rushmore."
  • Matthews on the filibuster debate: Democrats are "just sort of pouting and bitching."
  • Matthews repeatedly smeared Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
  • Matthews falsely claimed Democrats accused Alito of being "lenient on the mob."
  • Matthews made false claim about Jan. 30 Iraqi election.
  • Matthews distorted poll data to claim Catholics are increasingly Republican.
  • Matthews's panels consistently skew to the right.
  • Matthews distorted Murtha's Iraq proposal.
  • Matthews resurrected false claim that Saddam let Sunni fundamentalists "come in for ... training."
  • Matthews falsely insisted that the ongoing insurgency in Iraq was unexpected.
  • Matthews falsely attacked Wilson over Niger trip's genesis.
  • Matthews mischaracterized Democratic efforts to complete intel probe as "disingenuous," "using crocodile tears."

25 THINGS I'M GLAD I DIDN'T SAY

25) "I think with a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court, you can't play, you know, hide the salami, or whatever it's called." --Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean, urging President Bush to make public Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers's White House records, Oct. 5, 2005.

WORKS FOR ME!!!

A man enters a bar and orders a drink. The bar has a robot bartender.

The robot serves him a perfectly prepared cocktail, and then asks him, "What's your IQ?"

The man replies "150" and the robot proceeds to make conversation about global warming factors, quantum physics and spirituality, biomimicry, environmental interconnectedness, string theory, nano-technology, and sexual proclivities

The customer is very impressed and thinks, "This is really cool." He decides to test the robot. He walks out of the bar, turns around, and comes back in for another drink. Again, the robot serves him the perfectlty prepared drink and asks him, "What's your IQ?"

The man responds, "about a 100."

Immediately the robot starts talking, but this time, about football, NASCAR, baseball, supermodels, favorite fast foods, guns, and women's breasts.

Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the robot one more test. He heads out and returns, the robot serves him and asks, "What's your IQ?"

The man replies, "Er, 50, I think."

And the robot says... real slowly... "So............... ya gonna vote for Bush again?"
