High school dropout rate reaches highest in 14 years. Many who leave faced poverty, language issue.
The Massachusetts high school dropout rate reached 3.7 percent in 2004, the highest rate in 14 years, prompting Education Commissioner David P. Driscoll to call on school officials to work harder at making sure that students earn a diploma.
VOTE
Kitsap County has gone all mail in ballot. I voted yesterday. I voted NO on I-900, I-912 I-330 & I-336. I voted YES on I-901 and Senate Joint Resolution 8207.
There was two reasons I voted against I-900, first it was a Tim Eyman initiative and second the state has already done this. I-901 has to do with limits to smoking in buildings and vehicles open to the public. I-912 is the vehicle fuel tax. This is the initiative that has been run by KVI radio with Kirby and Carlson. They are still mad that Rossi lost the last election.
I-330 and I-336 deal with medical malpractice, insurance, licensing and lawsuits. This issue needs to be thought out and some how come together that protects the doctors and the patients and still have a place for the lawyers. I hope both of these go down.
The senate joint resolution deals with some procedural matters and I voted for it.
I've been voting by mail for years now and I love it. I sit down with a cup of coffee and read my voters pamphlet and make my decision. It's great. But there is a small group of vocal folks that don't like it. They say it leads to cheating and votes not counting. I say BS. I works.
Don't forget to vote!
