JUST ANOTHER SUNDAY?
AND THEY CALL IT - JUSTICE SUNDAY
Are all these guys nuts?
This Justice Sunday crap is scary business. It makes you wonder if these folks are any different or better than the Tellaban in Afghanistan. We have a separation of Church and State in this country unlike some other countries and you just need look at those other countries to see how much we would give up if these folks have their way.
Remember the great thing about America is the fact that I can choose to believe in God and/or religion if I want...it's my choice. I sure as hell don't need any of these guys to tell me what I should believe in. Hell James Dobson sees a gay in almost every cartoon he has ever seen. What's that all about.
All the crazy "shoot'em up" talk by some of these folks worries me not that I think they will do anything but rather some of their mindless followers. To me they are like the ditto heads that listen to Rush Linbaugh. Even when they are confronted with one of his lies and it is shown to be a lie they just refuse to see it. It's enough to drive you crazy. Justice O'Connor spoke out about the problem it creates (see below).
As with the Schiavo case I think this Justice Sunday is going to hurt Sen. FRIST. Most Americans will see this for what it is and they don't like it. They will link him to Tom Delay and his BULLSHIT talk about judges and see that because he doesn't like the rules he want to change them. It will hurt him and if he really thought that he was ready for prime time he's fooling himself.
In an unprecedented effort, the right has decided to attack judges in America, even going so far as to threaten violence.
- Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX): "The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior"
- Sen. Tom Coburn's (R-OK) Chief of Staff: "I'm a radical! I'm a real extremist. I don't want to impeach judges. I want to impale them"
- Pat Robertson, Christian Broadcasting Network: God "will remove judges from the Supreme Court quickly"
- Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) Said Judge Killings Might Be Understandable.
- DeLay: "We set up the courts. We can unset the courts. We have the power of the purse"
- James Dobson, Focus On The Family: "They don't have to fire anybody or impeach them or go through that battle. All they have to do is say the 9th Circuit doesn't exist anymore, and it's gone."
- Dobson Compared America's Judges to the Klan:
- Tony Perkins, Family Research Council: "There's more than one way to skin a cat, and there's more than one way to take a black robe off the bench"
- Majority Leader Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) will appear on 'Justice Sunday' with Dobson and Perkins
This is creating a climate of fear for America's judges.
- Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor: "I think it energizes people who are a little off base to take actions that maybe they wouldn't otherwise take."
- New Requests for Protection: "The U.S. Supreme Court asked for more police on Tuesday, citing recent attacks on judges and the need for more visible patrols to thwart terrorists
