I LOVE WASHINGTON STATE

What's it mean to live in Washington State and roads

I was born in Seattle...actually Ballard a little community northeast of Seattle, Washington. I've always loved this State. We spent about 5-6 years in San Diego and look back on that time fondly. It was because of the friends we met and never about the weather.

When we moved back to Bremerton, Washington we bought the house I still live in now with my dogs, the kids have long since got married and are busy building their own lives and homes. It's a 4 bed room house with a large fenced back yard that the dogs are safe to play in... plenty big for us then and now.

What does any of that have to do with roads you ask. Hold on I'll get there.

This last general election left a bad taste in the mouths of some people. They talk about fraud but won't charge anyone. They say some officials should be fired. They say dead people voted. They say some people voted more than once. They even want to see the State split in half.

But yesterday I was listening to the radio (KIRO710, Dori Monson). He had a republican lawyer on talking about the fact that they have found someone that through statistically analysis as now come up with a formula that says Dino Rossi won the election by 100 votes and is the real Governor. Folks we need to pull together and get on with our lives.

Ok that's all background for the real subject of today's rant, which is ROADS.

If you've read this BLOG for any length of time you know I'm against the Bremerton Tunnel which is in fact a road. I'm against wasting money, $28 million in this case on unnecessary project simply because someone else is paying for it.

There has been some talk about the eastern part of the State not wanting to pay for road projects in the western part of the State because they don't use them. That's nuts. The way I look at it is this. When it was time for me to paint my house I didn't say I wasn't going to paint my kids rooms cause I didn't use them. The house is shared by all of us as is the State. Sometimes part of the house/state needs repair and we all chip in to make that happen.

I swear sometimes I wonder how people think. How did the roads, highways, bridges and tunnels get here in the first place, and don't they ever wear out and need replacement or repair?

PRETTY GOOD JOKES
